Did you notice? About 15.05mins in, Saruman says: "Without the Ruling Ring of power the Seven are of no value to the Enemy." So the Seven are mentioned in the script! Hopefully this makes it into the extended edition of AUJ.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. He mentions them in the B-Roll also. And I am almost certain Thror is wearing one in

the Erebor prologue. If you look closely it is almost identical to the ones scene in the Fellowship prologue and is stunningly identical to the replicas of the movie version of the Seven. Did you notice? About 15.05mins in, Saruman says: "Without the Ruling Ring of power the Seven are of no value to the Enemy." So the Seven are mentioned in the script! Hopefully this makes it into the extended edition of AUJ. "Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!" "Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

I love watching this kind of footage; how things were filmed, PJ and Andy directing, etc. It fascinates me!

During the filming of "Riddles" he was thin as a rail. Later on he has some belly. No offense to Pete intended, just an observation.

Thank you very much for the link! I only wish it would stay longer in each scene they are working and would not be so heavily cut in short glimpses. I could watch them film the riddles scene for days. Or any scene for that matter (though scene 88 might get a little monotonous - after a week or so )

...there are 5 videos of b-roll footage out there (spanning AUJ). Very interesting to watch, you can see how much the actors have to use their imaginations for this movie :)

Saruman was a master of Ring lore. That was one of the reasons people listened to his council on Sauron so much. Granted he was wrong, and later this causes problems, but he was a specialist on rings. It's even in supplemental Tolkien material how he'd been searching for the ring in the Gladden Fields, and had some artifacts in Orthanc. They really don't have time for this in the films, and some of the material is under IP protection, but we might get inklings of this in Extended versions.

lol - thought it was funny how PJ and so many of the crew wanted snapshots of the dwarves tied up over the 'fire'. Must have been a fun shoot . Thanks for this - there were some scenes I hadn't caught before in other videos.

soemwhere around 6:50 when they're singing the Misty Mountain Cold song, I'm thinking, what, are they practicing??? They're singing it too fast! Then I realized, they slowed it down for the film (everything's in slight slo-mo to add weight and gravitas to the scene)...so the song slowed down (and seems to have dropped in tone, deeper as well). Wow..cool!

Actually, they aren't singing the same song...

...as is in the film. They are singing along with a version of the pre-recorded song that has been sped up. Very simple trick in cinematography- speed up whatever you want to slow down. But they recorded the song the exact way as it is sung (seems like they didn't use the people who had higher-pitched voices for the recording, but I could be wrong).

until I heard this faster song on the B-roll. Cool insight. :)

and I was so determined to watch this that I stayed up past midnight getting it to load on our dratted dial-up connection (about three hours, and I got to about 11 minutes into the video). It never occured to me that they'd sing a song at double-speed to get it to be correct when slo-mo'd. Very neat insight!
