The Necromancer Can't Post

OK so we know that for a time the White Council ignored who was behind the "Necromancer".

My question is, what do they think it was ? They knew it was necessary some kind of evil Maiar so it was necessary Sauron....

In the Appendices [In reply to] Can't Post

It is said that the Wise used to believe that one of the Nazgul was the necromancer. Later on, Gandalf travels to Dol Guldur and discovers the truth.

In the movie, the timeframe and events are changed, it still remains to be seen how they will handle Gandalf's investigation towards the shadow of the necromancer.
I'm so looking forward to it!

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Yes...this is what is said [In reply to] Can't Post

They believed that it might be one of the Nine, possibly the WitchKing, but this was only after rumors of trouble in the southern part of Mirkwood around Dol Guldur. 'Whispers of a nameless fear'
