Well? I went to the marathon a month back, being the first time seeing them in theaters (well, I did when I was too little to remember), I loved it!
How often do they do that kind of thing?

I suspect there will not be many more wide releases at many theaters, past the three Hobbit films. If we're lucky, they'll show them again before each of the upcoming installments.

Gramma, I think lobbied her local theater to do a showing, but she spent so much money there she was hard to turn down. But if you've got a nice friendly theater owner nearby, it would not hurt to ask them!

The movies are shown regularly (as events) in a few locations [In reply to] Can't Post

I think Austin TX is one place and Minneapolis is another.

However, this year's showing (which would have been like the sixth or seventh year?) could not be held because the studios wouldn't release the movie to the theater that usually holds the event.
