Elves tattoo Can't Post

Hello to everybody !

I am new in the forum and I hope to post my question in the right place !

I want to tattoo on my back the " Grace of the Valar " :

Immen dath caeda

Sui tollech, tami gwannathach omen

L ah alagos gwinnatha bain

Boe naer gwannathach, annant uich ben-estel
An uich gwennen na ringyrn e-mbar han*
Uich gwennen na 'wanath ah na dhn.

Boe naid bain gwannathar,

Boe cuil ban firitha.

I was wondering if you know someone who knows how to write a sindarin quote into sindarin font .

So I found this transcriber " tengwar.art.pl/tengwar/ott/start.php?l=en " , but I'm not sure that it is correct .

You have to write in Sindarin the quote , then choose output format PNG , select Tengwar Sindarin and then the transcriber transcribes the quote .

Maybe you can help me not to write on my skin something wrong !

Hope to hear you soon .

Cheers ,

Emanuele

Welcome to the Forum Sir Urlich [In reply to] Can't Post

I have not seen any transcription threads since I joined Torn.

There is another forum with a similar name to this one
http://www.theonering.com, There are two very active threads going that may interest you,

Click on Messageboards and choose Languages the titles of the threads are as follows

The Official Tengwar Transcription Thread and (tattoos) - V

The Official Quenya Translation Thread II

****Please note*****I would advise you to take note of the transcribers advice and read thoroughly the introduction notes at the beginning of these threads****

Howdy and Welcome Sir Ulrich :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm so glad you found your way here.

You are using the transcriber/translator that I've always used. Please do check the other suggestions found in this thread, but I've always been confident with the translator you are using and have posted here :)

Good luck on your tattoo!!

*looks closely at the letters* [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings, Sir Ulrich, and welcome to TORn! You've used the same site I recommend to others for transcription. Unfortunately I cannot duplicate your results, as I do not have the Moria (Belerian) script font on my computer.

(Some differences between this script and others: the use of letters instead of tehtar for vowels, and using the Sindarin "n" for double "n" instead of placing a mark below the "n", and Sindarin within-word "r" for single "n". A similar thing happens with "m" and "mm". I've probably just confused you with this, don't worry about it! Evil)

Here's a link to a site with your characters: http://www.acondia.com/...ar/info/belerian.htm. I've read through your transcription and compared, and as you can see, it looks like it matches! Smile

So go ahead with the tattoo, it looks good!

be careful... [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi!
I wouldn't trust online transcribers, as they are often incorrect. I'd be sure a person that really knows how to transcribe looks at it before you make it perminant.

You don't want to be one of these:

A really good (and easy) intro tutorial for anyone interested in learning Tengwar:

Another good site:

Tengwar modes (orthographies) [In reply to] Can't Post

There are different "modes" of Tengwar. They are used usually depending (as far as I understand) on the language being transcribed. Darwin posted a site that shows "Beleriand Mode," which I think is traditional Sindarin, but isn't used often. I think the ones I posted were in "Common Mode," which is what I'm more familiar with. I don't fully understand the differences or proper uses of the modes. You should do some research into what Tengwar modes (and fonts for that matter) are out there and which you would like to use for your tat.
