But I don't understand why this wasn't used. Saving for the EEs?

Clearly at least two versions of this part of the score were written (as with much of the film). The way Doug seems to say it, one version was chosen as the best presentation for the album, and one version was chosen as the best presentation in the film. The reasons for choosing different versions - with the one in the film proving to be quite a controversial piece - we can only guess at. You could argue that the CD was more under Howard Shore's control, and thus maybe represents what he "intended", and the film itself was more under Peter Jackson's control, so it included what he liked better.

Doug keeps stressing, though, that there was no "forcing the composer to record something against his will" sort of thing. That doesn't mean there wasn't any disagreement, though Evil

Btw, shame that the video can't be viewed in your country. Unsure

Then Manwë and Yavanna parted for that time, and Yavanna returned to Aulë; and he was in his smithy, pouring molten metal into a mould. 'Eru is bountiful,' she said. 'Now let thy children beware! For there shall walk a power in the forests whose wrath they will arouse at their peril.'

'Nonetheless they will have need of wood,' said Aulë, and he went on with his smith-work.
