Here's something that takes my breath away - Can't Post

http://www.yourmiddleearth.co.nz/

quote -

"Own your own piece of Middle Earth! Your order will consist of a durable glass vial, which has been carefully crafted for the specific purpose of storing earth. Each vial contains genuine earth hand-picked from pristine locations across Middle Earth. This is topped up with a cork to offer secure sealing. Middle Earth has been inscribed in Hobbit runes."

- I have no words...

Ummmm... ummm.... [In reply to] Can't Post

so many things wrong with that quote

Though is it weird that the thing that bothers me the most is that the cork offers secure sealing?
Maybe it is because the rest of it so simply ridiculous I have nothing to say about it.

..The land of long-forgotten name:
......no man may ever anchor near;
..No steering star his hope may aim,
......for nether Night its marches drear,
..And waters wide no sail may tame,
......with shores encircled dark and sheer.

..O! Haven where my heart would be!
......the waves beat upon thy bar
..For ever echo endlessly,
......when longing leads thy thought afar

What properties of a glass vial are particularly important to storing earth? // [In reply to] Can't Post

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville

Not as low as slot machines [In reply to] Can't Post

but getting there... sigh.

Anyway, this is a great example of why the Estate is disinclined to extend access to Tolkien's works, beyond what they have already.

That made this song pop into my head: [In reply to] Can't Post

The Rolling Mills of New Jersey
(Roberts and Barrand)

When I die, bury me low
Where I can hear the petroleum flow.
A sweeter sound, I never did know
The rolling mills of New Jersey.

Down in Trenton, there is a bar
The bums, they come from near and from far
They come by truck, they come by car
The lousy bums of New Jersey

Down in Hoboken, there will be
Garbage as far as the eye can see.
There's garbage for you, there's garbage for me.
The garbage dumps of New Jersey.

When at last, I decided to roam,
Far away from my home in Bayonne.
I sat down, and wrote this poem.
I wrote an ode to New Jersey.

''Blimey Bert!'' [In reply to] Can't Post

''There talkin' about our state over there.''

''.....Our mental state?''

''No, you lout, there talkin' about joisey.''

'' I am mighty mistook then. Don't call me a lout you booby!''

''Lumme if i knows, they say it smells like our sacks and our speakin' ain't drawing room fashion.''

''Shut yer mouth, you can't expect folk to stop here for ever to be likin' our lovely aroma do ya?''

''Bring that keg now 'afore i put a fist in yer eye.''

======================
Auntie, i got a sizable laugh from all that.
I am a wonderin' they didn't speak on ye taxes that skin ya alive.

But Hoboken is largely rebuilt and the garbage of the Jersey City and the 'Clear' Kills of Staten Island landfills are gone but the refieries down yonder along the NJ Turnpike go merrily along smelling to high heaven. I know not about the bars.Laugh

But thankfully there are areas that remain shire-like enough. But i am not stayin'. We are heading south when'st we can...to the far blue mountains....

Thanks auntie:)

It is true of the NE side. [In reply to] Can't Post

Laugh I just remembered a scene from TH of Bilbo's reaction when being behind a troll trying to steal a blade, a troll stood up and ...well you get the picture, and also of the travelers arriving along the area of exit 12 on the turnpike.

Thank ye kindly for the westerlies from all of us in the NW side the state.Angelic
