Being a member of and signed into these boards ... [In reply to] Can't Post

... gives you the ability to post on these boards.

Being a member of and signed into The Fellowship gives you the ability to post a message on The Fellowship interface.

Commenting on articles is part of the Word Press setup - which is not tied into the message boards or The Fellowship - and it functions like comments do on articles at other sites. Every site has it's own set up for how you sign into the comment section.

I have an account with Disqus which lets me comment on a TORn article, at Doug Adams blog, and at ew.com.

Some sites let you log in through a Facebook account or perhaps some similar social network site. Some let you log in to make a comment merely by supplying an email address (that is not posted).

Since I'm signed in to Disqus, I can't see what other options TORn has.

But part of the answer is 'no', you can't use your message board account or Fellowship account to comment on an article. But to comment, just try writing something in the comment field below an article and see what it wants you to do.

If you try that and still have problems, come back here and tell us what happened. If need be, I can sign out of my Disqus account to see if I can help.

sign in [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been having a few issues with the news articles as well and it's not with the forum username but having to register with Disqus on just about every news article.

But I have posted comments in the comments box of many news articles using my forum name.

Other than what has already being said you will find that these articles will appear on the forum boards.

I find Disqus to be a little spotty in performance [In reply to] Can't Post

It happens with some regularity that someone at Doug's blog finds themselves signed out and unable to sign back in easily.

I chalk it up to this need to constantly tinker with things. Bugs appear and get dealt with and we just mutter to ourselves and then all is right again.

But that is a function of Disqus. Not TORn.

You might get Disqus to accept your forum name (they seem to allow for a registration name and then a display name. I couldn't get Magpie for my Disqus account - I had to take aMagpie. But they let me use Magpie as a display name.) but to be clear, you're not using your forum account to post comments to articles. You're just using the same name for both accounts: forum and comment section.
