Welcome, fellow TORn Travelers! So here's the question for this week's Walk to Rivendell: How does sleep deprivation affect your exercise/fitness routine? (now I wonder what could have possibly put that question in my mind...) There and Back Again Group Challenge Progress Miles covered last week: 218.35 Cumulative miles: 10574.24 Miles along the journey: 704.95 Miles out of Rivendell: 307.95 Mirkwood, oh, Mirkwood. Again. On the bright side... well, I'll not ruin it for those who have been avoiding the Hobbit board spoilers. Something about a movie premiere coming up? My progress: Miles covered this week: 5 Cumulative miles: 426 Goal: There and Back Again! Beamer and I are in the foothills outside Rivendell, on our way into the Misty Mountains. Rather like our intrepid band of movie-adventurers will be in a few short hours, on screens around the world. Beamer's progress: Miles covered this week: 3 Cumulative miles: 415 Goal: Group Challenge Arandiel The Scoop on the Walk The TORn Walk to Rivendell thread meets right here on Main, on Thursdays. WHAT A JOURNEY!! And I want to thank you, Arandiel, for keepin us on the road and approaching the countdown to Unexpected Journey finally making it to our theatres :D You and everyone here have always been so inspiring and supportive! *GROUP HUG* WELL DONE, PEOPLE!! I've been on 2 Quests this week. I'm with Bilbo and Gandalf as we're making our way from Beorn's home to Rivendell. Right now we're on the old forest road walking towards the Misty Mountains then through them to Rivendell. It's going to be a while, but we're finally on our way home. The other Quest was to make it to the midnight viewing of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Thursday night/Friday morning. I hosted a line party that went much better than I thought it would and then ventured BACK into Peter Jackson's Middle-earth. It was so great. My greatest advice is to Please NOT expect this to be The Lord of the Rings. It's a completely different movie from LotR. They've brilliantly set a whole new rhythm and tone to a very familiar world. Prepare for an Adventure :) And in this last week of the Challenges, here are my numbers. Miles covered: 15 Cumulated miles: 1549 Goal: #2 Unexpected Journey Individual Challenge and contributing to the Group :) Weeks to go: BINGO – We've made it to December 14, 2012
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world. TORn's Observations Lists Unused Scenes

Glad it went well, gramma! And what a relief to get such a positive report from you on the movie! What is this "last week" of which you speak? We ain't stoppin' now! We're going there and back again! (to quote Samwise Gamgee) We have a whole year-and-a-half ahead of us to complete Bilbo's journey as the movies come out. Well, if you want to... Who's with me?

I'm still tracking away! I figured from about 2003-2011, I walked something like 700 miles, maybe more. A year ago, I started tracking my walking with MapMyWalk.com. Highly recommended. Between 12/7 and 12/13, I walked 15 miles. I walked 600 miles total this year (I am generally unemployed, so I have time). So I'm 9 miles shy of Rauros (end of FOTR). Happy New Year!
