New Lego Lord of the Rings sets coming in June Can't Post

A picture was recently leaked showing 4 new sets coming in June, including "The Wizard Battle," "The Council of Elrond," "Battle at the Black Gate," and "Pirate Ship Ambush." They all look pretty great!

You can see the (rather small and blurry) pictures here:

They look great! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've always loved Legos. I'll probably get a few of these, at least.

Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima! Hail Eärendil, brightest of stars!

Summer Lego [In reply to] Can't Post

The Black Gate one looks really nice. Also nice to see Saruman in a cheap set.

Ahh I can't make out the mini figures with the Pirate Ambush set. Can you?

Apparently there's a Witch King minifigure in the Black Gate set [In reply to] Can't Post

which would be odd, or maybe somebody mistook a general Nazgul for the Witch King?

With the pirate ship coming up, might we get a Peter Jackson-as-pirate minifigure? That would be awesome.

Here's a list of contents by the way:
79005 – The Wizard Battle: Gandalf the Grey and Saruman Minifigs
79006 – The Council of Elrond: Elrond, Frodo, Arwen and Gimli
79007 – Battle at the Black Gate: Gandalf the White, Aragorn, The Witch King of Angmar & 2 x Morder Orc
79008 – Pirate Ship Ambush: Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, King of Dead, 2 x Soldiers of Dead, 2 x Mordor Orc and 2 x Corsair Pirate

And here's a better picture of the Black Gate set [In reply to] Can't Post

Note that the figures are not final but stand-ins. The Nazgul figure will be replaced by a Mouth of Sauron figure and the hooded character will be replaced by a kingly Aragorn figure.

Here's a fairly clear picture of the Pirate Ambush minifigures [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks like we'll indeed be getting a Peter Jackson minifigure!

Better "pictures" are already available, if you know where to look... [In reply to] Can't Post

Now, "pictures" might be a stretch, but "renderings" would be more accurate. Anyway, I know were to see them in glorious detail, even detail of how some of the actual pieces would go together. And I have my son to thank for finding them.

In the LEGO LotR game (ours on the Wii), at some point you unlock the 'million stud level'. That's a level that seems to be on all their games, where you basically roam the 'land' and destroy everything! You need to accumulate 1,000,000 studs to complete the level, so you really do end up flattening about 98% of the place.

Well, in the LotR game, this level also shows lots of things. You see Frodo's home (Bag End), which looks exactly like The Hobbit lego kit. I imagine they just took the "plans" from their set-design computer, and 'plugged it in' to the Lego game. There is also Helm's Deep, Weathertop, the Mines of Moria, and much more.

There are also a LOT of other things that we DON'T have kits for, yet - like Rivendale, the Black Gate, Minas Tirith, and more! Now, I haven't taken the images given and compared them... yet... but just glancing at that Elrond kit looks suspiciously similar to the Rivendale stuff in that million-stud level.

So for those that have the game, perhaps someone else can check and see if they agree with me - that there are a lot of hints at things to come...!
