Tolkien's World, brought to life... Can't Post

After LOTR and The Hobbit. Could their be more taken from page to screen? What do you wish for? What would you do? Comments please!

Works [In reply to] Can't Post

I would really love to see some of the stories collected in The Silmarillion brought to life on the big screen or even on a television mini-series, though I recognize that the Estate still holds the rights. I think it would be particularly cool to see things like the Creation of Middle Earth, the tale of Beren and Luthien, the Fall of Gondolin and others. I think the best medium for that would be television though, a mini-series with a big budget.

Further book to screen adaptations [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree, TV would be best vehicle for Silmarillion; think it would a great challenge for same actor to play both Manwe and Melkor given that they are brothers...

Less movies and more TV adaptions [In reply to] Can't Post

How about a TV series adaption? You can guarantee excellent character development and intense drama. If Game of Thrones can succeed as a TV adaption; then The Hobbit or LOTRs or any other Tolkien's work can do the same; so long as PJ is not directing this time Laugh

As things stand at present... [In reply to] Can't Post

Unless the Tolkien Estate (currently headed by Christopher Tolkien) decides to sell the screenrights to other JRR Tolkien works, any further film or television projects would have to be derivative of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, which is why there was potential for a proposed 'bridge' film between the two.
