...if one hadn't watched The Office, or Spooks, one maybe hasn't seen Richard Armitage or Martin Freeman. And that doesn't mean that they're not established (to some) and experienced actors. I just assumed any fan of the films or of Tolkien, who didn't know who he was, would at least look him up when he was cast. So I was very surprised to read this - although, I apparently shouldn't have been =) "Flight of the Conchords" is a comic folk duo, who gained international success (although not infamy) through a wonderful HBO show.

Yes, our *true* names are on TORN!
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. As others said, he's famous for being part of Flight of the Conchords, writing the music and winning an Oscar for "The Muppets," and because of the hilarious and tongue-in-cheek Figwit phenomenon. I will leave this here as Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWf3iJjqYCM Also, for the record, he had TWO lines in Return of the King. Just sayin'.

I watch very little television, so most of the actors in AUJ I'm not familiar with (thank goodness for Wikipedia). Sir Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood are the ones I'm most familiar with; Sylvester McCoy from Doctor Who, Martin Freeman from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Actually it makes it more exciting that way, seeing the characters as their roles, instead of the actors playing the characters.

Be sure to check out Jekyll, starring James Nesbitt. It's a modern take on the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, and it's excellent. It was the first thing i saw James Nesbitt in, and he was fantastic-- very charming, very devilish.

You're right: Harry Sinclair played Isildur, Peter McKenzie was Elendil. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between two mortals...

it was also DUH who set up and did most of the work on the website. Arwenelf helped a bit but it was mostly DUH's project!

My mom had been in the hospital. We thought she was dying, and I suppose she was, but it wasn't imminent; it took her another eight years. And I was waiting for the results of a biopsy on a huge tumor. It turned out to be benign, but because it was so huge I had to have an operation anyway. And at about that time the Figwit stuff came up here. It made me laugh and laugh, and that inside joke kept me going through it all.

*ahem* Not my fault there were candles in the alcove at head-height right by the table! Candles possibly would have been more obvious without the help of several rum-and-cokes, but still... And to set the record straight, it was Stan, who was filming the Figwit documentary, whom I was with right then, not Bret and Jemaine. *ahem*
