BTW I'm not the official organizer (not sure if there is one). Anyway, since it's Hollywood, and this is a long expected event movie, people will be lining up very early. I won't make it to the theater until late afternoon on Thursday and I suspect there will already be a sizeable line by the time I get there. If enough people chime in here, we can plan meals, games, music, etc. for our line party. So again, anyone in the L.A. / Hollywood area, let us know if you want to join us. It seems there are a few extra tickets, too!

There is a predicted 60% chance of rain in Hollywood on Thursday, so bring those hoods and cloaks!

I'm a little confused about the time... It says 12:01 Thu 12/13. So it's Thursday night/Friday morning right?

Thanks for starting this thread! I was hoping to touch bases with other folks who are going. None of my friends is willing to go the extra mile for the midnight show. They mostly have real jobs with set hours. I, on the other hand, am a decadent intellectual (i.e., college professor). So, I'm going, though I'll probably be heading there alone. It would be nice to meet all of you who will be in line! I love this community, but have yet to meet anyone on here in the flesh and blood... And hmmmm, how will we know each other? Well, here's my Facebook profile. Feel free to drop a line, friend me, and/or or just say hi on Thursday night! https://www.facebook.com/semiote

On the Line party page on the main page of TheOneRing.net, under community, you will find a listing of Line Parties, including one at Grauman's Chinese. So a few of the LA based TORn staffers will be on hand (not this staffer, I'll be down at the Irvine Spectrum and we have another TORn line party out at the Foothill theaters in Azusa). What this means for those going to Hollywood is that there may well be some costume contests and trivia competitions and a few prizes. Of course, because it's Hollywood, a few other surprises have come up recently. The Sound LA, a local radio station, is also going to be there with some prizes donated by Air New Zealand, including a grand prize for a trip to New Zealand. So while the weather may dictate some of your participation, please do show up a few hours early to take advantage of the giveaways and the big contest.

So there will, in fact, be people camping out at the Chinese theatre starting tonight, although I don't know how many. I'm planning to head over as soon as I can get out of the office, hoping to be there by 6:00. I got an email yesterday morning from the Chinese that everyone who's attending the screening gets a free t-shirt, and that the first 200 people in line get a bunch of other free crap. It also said that there *will* be a costume contest. Looking forward to seeing several hundred of my closest friends there tomorrow!

I plan on going over tomorrow morning, hopefully not too many people will already be in line. Not sure what time I'm gonna leave. I'm in the San Fernando Valley, and I'm doing public transportation. I remember when we had Serenity screening at the Chinese, they had us come in, upstairs. I wonder if they would do that for the folks who will be rained upon during the day tomorrow? I tried to get ahold of Mann's themselves to get a live-eye on what's happening right now, but no luck in finding an actual human on a phone.
