considering all those cinema marathons LOTR will earn even more money. I don't know if it makes a big change, but our favorite movies might just climb up the stairs a bit in this list of highest grossing films:

First, yes, the important keepers of information about movie grosses do count re-releases, which would probably include these one-day marathons. When FotR and TTT were released in theaters in their extended editions for a week before the release of RotK, their income went up on VARIETY and BoxOfficeMojo and other sites. Not by that much, but noticeably. The same should be the case this time. But because it was only one day, it'll be smaller move upward.
