US or Worldwide? [In reply to] Can't Post

I get upset that films are judged by what they make in North America and the rest of the world is ignored or considered unimportant.

I'm guessing $850-900 mill worldwide [In reply to] Can't Post

Doubt the first film will pass one billion, but the second and third might.

OK then [In reply to] Can't Post

Going for it: premium ticket formats (IMAX, HFR), franchise support, hefty publicity budget.

Against: long running time, less effusive critic reviews, skewering younger demographic.

I predict (WAG) strong initial showing, but steeper drop off. $110M in first weekend, $340M overall domestic, $950M worldwide.

Impossible to say [In reply to] Can't Post

at this point. 1 Bil really isn't a big deal anymore--with inflated 3D prices, most of the biggest blockbusters hit that mark--the new mark should be 1.5.

But seeing as I am going into this film completely spoiler-free (and that includes all the music, not even listening to the soundtrack I'm buying on Teus) I don't have much to say at this point. Until then, busy reading about and seeing Les Miz press and clips. (FYI the reviews embargo on that film ends Dec 11.) Plus the first big Oscar milestones are this week--New York Film Crltics (NYFCC--no Hobbit showing there), today, the National Booard of Review, and later in the week, LAFCA (LA Film critics association.)
It's the beginning of Oscar season, so enough to keep me busy until next Thursday!

I hope there will be a way to see how many people in which countries saw it in what format. How big box-office is for each tyoe of format. It would be interesting to be able to see which countries/audiences liked the 48 fps the most.

BTW, one of the big theaters in my hometown (though not the one with the IMAX screen), has huge TH and Les Miz posters side by side at the entrance to the mall. That says it all and it gave me the shivers when I saw it! Took a pic of course, and I wish I knew how to upload them!
