It looks to me like a sword in the right and a staff in the left hand.

But I can't see much on the quality of the vid. But If its staff and sword then that would connect with the shot of Gandalf in the first trailer carrying his staff and sword as he walks quickly along what looks to be somewhere in Dol Guldur.

that's because he has no dwarven gold and jewels yet? He covered his body with them, if I remember correctly. Maybe those made the orginal greyish dragon get a more golden/reddish appearance?

Can't see a sword myself and that would also give us problems.

Since if it were Gandalf with sword then that would mean he is at DG after Trollshaws - which doesn't seem likely prior to leaving the company at Mirkwood. LR

I think it's more important to look at the character's head. It doesn't look like a pointed hat. Although Gandalf could just as easily not be wearing it. But it looks kind of like Radagast's hat to me so I think it's Raddy.

If during the course of their adventure Bilbo also finds himself on the receiving end of a Dwalin-type head butt? Bet he won't see that coming, LOL! Or maybe he will -- and ducks. ;-)

LHFLKäadjfha'sokdjaLKJN''''''NNN In other words, loved the hug. The icing on the cake that was the best tv spot thus far. Much, much, better than the second trailer. Ouch.

thats quite intriguing. He's not golden then? or is it his mighty shadow? Smaug is in shade, contrasted against his great flames. You can't see his true colour in that lighting.

1. Which town is Smaug attacking? If it is Dale, is Dale located on a hill, with a bridge into it? It looks more like what I imagine Erebor to be. 2. At the end of TV Spot #8, it appears Radagast is walking into Dol Guldur (as some have described it). To me, the castle/town Radagast is walking across the bridge into looks like the castle/town Smaug is attacking. Any ideas? If this has already been discussed, could you refer me to the thread? Thanks!!

I'm not quite sure what you mean about Erebor? And I think almost everyone is in agreement that that is Dol Guldur at the end - not the same town that Smaug is attacking. LR

I thought that perhaps the Kingdom extended outside the mountain itself to a degree? Also I just can't shake the similarity between the bridge in the Smaug scene and the bridge in the Radagast/possible Dol Guldur scene. Probably just me

Caught me off guard, but I love it! Looks like the end of this movie's going to be pretty fantastic and have all the right emotions. You can't beat the death of Borimir and a drowning Sam as an ending, but looks like this is gonna be great in it's own right. "I'll help you get {your home} back, if I can" and the hug....the calm before the Firey-pinecomb storm? This movie is gonna rule

Would he be striding in the front-door? Although he is walking pretty quickly.
