There are two in Manchester alone.

I am just using the imax website which was linked to in this thread [In reply to] Can't Post

From the imax website which was linked to before there are only 3 in the UK - Sheffield, Nottingham and Manchester.

Unless more have been added to the list since this time, hence my confusion.

gotcha, that's what has been confusing me [In reply to] Can't Post

Its strange how close together the only 3 cinemas showing HFR with IMAX are - manc, shef, notts.

I am also amazed i am in the same city as one of them! All the talk so far on HFR which i was unsure about has been encouraging.

Cant wait for the ear bleeding level of noise to begin!

Oh and cineworld also offers D-Box you ever heard/experienced that? its where the seats move with what is happening on the screen or something! I am definitely getting one of those seats!

Mine is at cineworld too, and I was tempted to book them. [In reply to] Can't Post

But I've never experienced them before. I don't want to be feeling sick while watching The Hobbit.

There's a massive void of HFR cinemas in my area ... It's not promising at all.Frown

Actually you can see it at Trafford Centre Manc and Printworks [In reply to] Can't Post

It seems unlikely this can be the case and not a single option in London, Birmingham etc.

But stranger things have happened.

Yeah it does seem very odd [In reply to] Can't Post

If i were IMAX the first three places would be London, Birmingham and Manchester, not Notts or Sheffield, lol.

For manchester i was going off what IMAX were saying - one on 6-8 Dantzic St. - Oh yh just seen they are both offering it - what lucky people they are in Manchester!

Surely more will become available for HFR with IMAX

Yeah i dont know whether to get them with D-Box or not [In reply to] Can't Post

i have tried things like this when on holiday to Florida at theme parks and liked it, but then they didn't last for 3 hours (near enough).

If it costs more money then i wont, thats the deal breaker, lol.

HFR 3D (if I can) [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't have any local cinemas showing HFR 3D, which is a shame, but I'm choosing to trust Peter Jackson on all-things-The-Hobbit so what I'd like to remember is the first time I see this (as near as) exactly as he intended.
Unfortunately, this'll mean travelling 40 miles to find a decent cinema (or at least one which I have a reasonable hope won't f**k up the presentation). But this kind of film event comes along very rarely indeed so I want to show my support.

I guess the cinemas are hedging their bets; unless they give over more than one screen to The Hobbit they have to choose which format to screen, and the non-HFR version seems to be the safest bet. What REALLY annoys me is that my local Cineworld is seeing fit to provide only the standard 3D version on ONE screen (out of their many) and not even providing a 2D option. I've seen 3D (once) at this cinema before and it was pretty awful (ghosting).

(Sorry to rant and I truly hope the situation is better where you live!)
