ew.com: 'Sherlock' season 3 might not air until 2014 Can't Post

Start of production on the third cycle of the fan-adored detective drama has been moved from January to March. Sources say the shift was necessary to accommodate the busy schedules of the show’s breakout stars, Benedict Cumberbatch (who’s in Star Trek 2) and Martin Freeman (starring in The Hobbit).

Probably due to the third Hobbit movie, do you think?

Also in this article: "The news comes on the heels of two other announcements about favorite British imports, with Downton Abbey receiving a fourth-season order"

well, that will just give me another year to rewatch the first 2 seasons! [In reply to] Can't Post

They pack so much into those episodes, you do need several viewings to get it all -- and, at the rate we watch TV or films, it will take us about a year to get through them all again!

That said, I am sure that many folks who keep up with things better than us are disappointed...even if the delay is for a good reason!

Oh, that's a shame. I really enjoy Sherlock. [In reply to] Can't Post

I imagine the additional Hobbit filming required next year as stuffed up the Sherlock filming schedule.

At least it hasn't been cancelled!

Damn! I was looking forward to the next series... [In reply to] Can't Post

... but I love Downton Abbey as well, and am glad it's getting a fourth season. Between that and The Hobbit, there's enough things to tide me over until 2014 at least Wink

SOOOOOOOO SAD!! [In reply to] Can't Post

I saw this litterally 3 hours after it was released. I was so sad and dissapointed I yelled "NOOO" and so everyone in hearing had to ask me what was wrong. I think they are enjoying having us suffer, since they all know how he survives. They filmed the first episode of season 3 alongside Riechanbach Fall I heard.
Oh well, another 13 months of watching the episodes over and over again.
Hopefully I get season 2 for Christmas so i can torture myself my watching the finale again and again.
