**In the beginning was the Rankin Bass Hobbit, Part 12-- Grand Finale** Can't Post

Here is the last installment in this very, very irregular series of posts featuring images from the soundtrack booklet for the Rankin Bass Hobbit --I thought I'd better post this before the NZ Hobbit premiere...if you are lucky enough to be there, congratulations! And if you aren't lucky enough to be there, consider this your consolation prize (well, it's a pretty lousy consolation prize, I know, but it's the best I've got!)

The final two images are these:

Comments and Questions for your discussion pleasure:

1. Poor Thorin in all those bandages! Looks like they even wrapped up his beard. It's a bit too modern hospital shot to me -- what's your take on this image? How bad do you expect Jackson to make Thorin look on his deathbed?

2. I was glad R/B used the book dialogue in the Thorin/Bilbo scene...what, for you, are the aspects of Thorin's death scene that Jackson absolutely, positively has to get right for you to be happy?

3. What do you like/dislike about the Rankin Bass take on Bag End? Do you see similarities between Bilbo's R/B home and Jackson's Bag End?

4. To me, Bilbo looks a bit wistful in this parting shot...what do you think? Was the R/B Bilbo really happy to be home after all his adventures, or, does he look like he'd rather be out in the wide world again here? Given what we know about Jackson's Bilbo from the LOTR films, how do you think Jackson will conclude his journey in the Hobbit films?

5. Any other thoughts on these images, or the Rankin Bass Hobbit in general?

Thanks to everyone who joined in or lurked through these posts...I haven't been able to be as active on this board or TORn in general these days, but I was glad I could sneak in this series here and there.

And now, on to the Jackson Hobbit films! Premiering this week in NZ, wow!
