Gollum/ Smeagol in The Hobbit Can't Post

Good evening everybody ( in Europe)
When rewatching The Lord of the Rings the Return of the King on tv last night I noticed something. In one scene Gollum tells Smeagol that '' he has done it before'' refering to killing Deagol. You can see it at 0:23 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhF060VmS1g . So why is the Smeagol/Gollum split personality in The Hobbit films? Smeagol killed just one person in his life. What about all the orcs and other creatures?

My theory [In reply to] Can't Post

Smeagol killed Deagol when tempted by the ring. It wasn't Gollum.

The Gollum personality developed because of guilt, the burden of having the ring and spending all those years alone with out anyone to talk to.

What Smeagol is referring too is murder. Frodo was the first person to show Smeagol any kindness in a long long time. He struggled with killing someone he cares about, not just the act of killing

Thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

Thank you for that. Hopefully It will be as scary in the film as it was in the book. Do you think it will be more funny like we saw in the trailers or not ? I certainly hope it's not

Pity of Bilbo [In reply to] Can't Post

I look forward to see the pity of Bilbo. Remember, if it wasn´t for the pity of Bilbo, the Ring would never had been destroyed, and Sauron would have won.

I did a comparison [In reply to] Can't Post

between the bits of the scene we've been shown and the account in the book. You can read it (and the discussion it sparked) by clicking here.

Basically, the scene in the book starts out with both parties uneasy but polite and some humor and then gets scarier as it goes on, and I think the movie may too.
