Gollum's Ring / Smaug's Eyes ?SPOILERS? Can't Post

One of the most recent TV spots shows Gollum menacingly slithering over the fresh corpse of a Goblin as Bilbo hides nearby...also, Bilbo is seen showing exasperation as Goblins file past him, inexplicably unnoticed...in both of these scenes, has Bilbo found the Ring yet?...or is he naturally evading notice, an attribute of Hobbits known by Gandalf, and perhaps the main reason that he thinks of Bilbo in regards to the Quest of Erebor?
Because of the former-mentioned shot, I feel there is a strong chance that we will get to see a portrayal of Gollum as Ring-bearer when he is introduced in this film, wielding it's power if only in a simple manner (Gollum 's aspirations are merely for survival and evasion). Perhaps Gollum will kill (for food?) a Goblin who is tracking or even confronting Bilbo BEFORE the Ring itself will CHOOSE to 'be lost' by Gollum? Will we see the Ring make the choice to be found by Bilbo? If Bilbo is to already have the natural Hobbity ability to be unnoticed, how will the Ring help him? Perhaps having it will give Bilbo confidence that he lacks, but then later Sauron's evil may begin to have another influence...?
As per Sauron, he will probably not manifest as an Eye in this film, he will be the Necromancer, but what form will the Necromancer take? These Hobbit films must ultimately show why Sauron can only manifest as a searching reptilian Eye. Most of us here have read Benedict Cumberbatch's quote about Smaug opening his eye at the end of the first film (and of course none of know if his statement was literal, or how well informed it was)... but it does beg the question, have the film-makers attempted to create a connection between their portrayal of a reptilian Eye of Sauron and Smaug's eyes?
They've shown us quite a lot in the trailers and TV spots, but I have a feeling that we have a few surprises in store for us...

This would add even more coincidence to the very coincidental nature of Bilbo finding the Ring DanielLB Send a private message to DanielLB Nov 20 2012, 8:04am
