Pre-Hobbit Run Up

I was thinking to myself the other night, its less than 4 weeks until AUJ is released here in the UK and thought I should do something to get myself ready for the film. After a while I settled on a couple of things. First off I would listen through my editions of the Complete Recordings, read through the book once more, and then watching the Lord of the Rings EEs just before the release. Another idea was to listen through my copy of the BBC radio adaptation of The Hobbit I own, which is quite a good little production. I'd like to manage all that in the next 25 or so days, my own little quest if you will. What have you guys got planned for your own personal run up to the release of AUJ?

The desire to see this movie has been burning inside for quite a time so I won't be needing to arrange any kind of warm up. Spending time in tor.n, listening to the soundtrack and watching the trailers/ tv-spots is enough for me. Then, on December 13.... BOOM!
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost, The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

I'm completely ready to see it, just as you are, these things aren't really a warm up. I'm as excited for the film as anyone, maybe more so ;) I just thought it'd be fun to have a bit of an extra build up to the release in my own way. Get myself more amped up, if that's possible to actually do ha

As I don't want to get bored! I've started watching the extended editions, listening to the soundtrack, an also listening to the audio books. That'll keep me busy, and excited!

which you describe and back in lotr days I was really all about it. Wish I had more spare time and willingness to arrange sth special but currently there are more things going on( like university/courses and exams) and I should keep a balance- yet it's difficult with all the hobbitness around...

I have tickets for a showing of the Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition Trilogy at Arclight in Los Angeles on December 8th, with some of the best projection in the world. It's an all day marathon of the films, something I've never done, even with my blu rays at home. That should do it!

part of my plan was actually joining TORN to satisfy my tolkien geekiness, but im trying to avoid all the tv spots and music, why spoil it !! i am finding myself studying my special hardback centenary lotr editions and listening to the hobbit audiobook at night! i watch part1 of the fotr tonight on bluray, was taking much more notice of the cinematography , i even noticed a close up of a black cat in bree id never noticed before!! after all this time lol happy hobbiting ;)

Those things that you use in some countries to count down the 24 days to Christmas (very popular here in Germany). They majority of them contains chocolates. However I bought one with 24 bags of tea, glued a Bilbo on it, and started with my first bag of tea today. 23 more bags to go.

and the days are ticking past! I want to watch LotR EE, but I don't have a DVD player, unfortunately. I might organise something with friends, but they always talk through the movies or say the lines along with the characters, which drives me nuts! I'll probably read TH, listen to LotR soundtracks, maybe do a little hobbit-related cross stitch while I listen. Also, I'm going to Wellington so I'll get to check out the Hobbit market and hopefully meet some TORnsibs!
