Galadriel in The Hobbit (TV Spot question)

Good morning to all (it's morning over here :) ) First of all, I am sorry if this has been discussed before, but my overbearing daily activities have impeded me to visit the forum as often as I did. I wanted to ask you about that one shot of Galadriel at night, with the different gown. Can it be that Bilbo wakes up during the night and goes roaming around Rivendell and he stumbles on Galadriel who warns him about his thievery, Smaug, the ring, etc... Just like in FotR with Frodo. Has this option been considered as such? Thank you
Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way. Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it. Pippin: What? Gandalf?... See what? Gandalf: White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. Pippin: [smiling] Well, that isn't so bad. Gandalf: [softly] No... No it isn't.

Warning him about the Ring wouldn't make any sense... at all.

Bilbo hasn't found the Ring by then.

And I hope not. The White Council (and especially Gandalf) don't associate Bilbo with Isildur's Bane. We know that the Company leaves Rivendell, while Gandalf stays for the White Council meeting. This is probably the infamous Gandriel love scene.

Though I didn't mean only "the ring" because true that would not make sense... But maybe just warn him about Smaug and everything subsequent... Don't know... It would be pretty unreasonable to have a separate scene with Gandalf and Galadriel, at night... it's just too much and I don't think Peter Jackson will do that... So I am pretty much convinced that the scene at night, with Galadriel and the different gown will be something entirely different from what has been guessed as a (stupid) amorous story...

In every other screen shot we've seen her in, she's wearing that other white dress. That means her scene with Gandalf and the White Council scene are at least connected somehow. But in this shot she's in a completely different dress and it's at night. I'm completely at a loss of what it could be.

It seriously seems like she's trapped there. It's very odd.

She's hiding a parachute under that dress. Saruman sees her lust for Gandalf. In a mad rage, he pushes her off the cliff, not realising she has a parachute. The audience think she will fall to her death. Suddenly, a great big Union Flag appears in the sky. Galadriel glides to safety. This all happens while The James Bind music is playing.

I will be extremely disappointed if that doesn't happen exactly the way you described it. Maybe this is the 3rd film? The Hobbit: Galadriels Great Balcony Escape

There's been speculation that it's just an image of her

Some have theorized that she's projecting an image of herself and that she doesn't actually leave Lothlorien.

I bet she might appear my projection in Film 1 and then in the flesh in Film 3

I could see her appearing as just an image during the White Council, but then travelling to Dol Guldur in person. This would make it seem more important and exciting when she shows up in the flesh. I think it'd work especially well if they move the throwing down the walls of Dol Guldur from the end of Lord of the Rings to the end of The Hobbit.

a different dress. I think its its just a heavy handed blue filter thing to make it look like moonlight and shadow. maybe. I made one without the blue tone.

It's the grey one shown in one of the vlogs. It's very different from the white one seen in the other scenes. Here's a link to it.

Me and revecus have just been saying it's a different dress, so it's gotta be a different scene. ETA - I agree the blue tint is due to some sort of filter.

I misunderstood the points you both were making. so basically there are 2 dresses, the white Council meeting one and the silver grey balcony one?

And every scene we've seen of Cate so far has been in the white dress. So I'm pretty lost as to what this night time scene is.

This is probably the night of the White Council meeting, before Gandalf heads off to find the Dwarves. Perhaps they're jut saying goodbye - it might be the last time they see each other until ROTK (film universe).

is an over dress she puts on over the white one. It must get a bit nippy hanging around on high balconies, at night.
