That means no other interesting trailers at all, and could get a bit monotonous for any audience members not in love with Star Trek, or younger audience members.
"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!" "Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

People are there to see The Hobbit, not a preview of Star Trek. Why ram a 9 minute preview down people's eyes? It would annoy quite a few people ... Including myself!

Well I guess if they would project that preview at 48fps it would make some sense in order to get your eyes used used to the new speed. But since they say it's only 24fps I don't see a point in showing it at all.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle.

I'm kind of a Trekkie, i'd love to see the 9 minutes, alas no IMAX anywhere near me. Will have to wait for a trailer.

I don't mind Star Trek, but I just bought my IMAX 3D tickets, and watching a different movie for nine minutes before watching the Hobbit, is not the experience I was hoping for. I might get a refund, and watch it in 2D first.

And I don't want to watch what is practically one-tenth of a different movie before the Hobbit starts. Seems reasonable, but do continue with your derision if you like.

nine minutes is too much. I liked my previews to be a taste, not a meal in itself.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Imax films often don't have trailers in general, there weren't any when I saw Dark Knight Rises. I can't believe people are getting in a huff about this, first world problems. *Edit - And I should add, it's not a 9 minute trailer as far as I know, but a 9 minute clip from the film, like the Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises did before. And I'm not sure why you're worried about the 'younger audiences', did you see the Star Trek reboot? It was a pure action film, a good one at that, it's not at all like the old Next Generation films.

A refund, really? The 9 minute tag is likely in lieu of trailers, since most Imax films don't carry any (such as with Dark Knight Rises). I think this is the most baffling thing I've read all day. What is with people's attention spans these days?

I have to say you're turning into one of my most favoritest people on this whole forum. First Tint, now Trek... You pretty much have it all.

I predict we won't hear any info on the tint until after the 3rd Hobbit film has become available on blu. You heard it here first. But yes, I am eagerly anticipating the 2nd Star Trek. What has held it up so long?
