For Your Consideration. . . The Hobbit Can't Post

Warner Brothers has kicked off their Awards Season website for many of their films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey among them. The page links to the Official Website and trailer, gives a brief synopsis of the story, and then lists all the names of the people who worked in eligible categories, from the Writers to the Sound Effects people, and a few of the actors. And just as a tease, there is a list of screenings, but those screenings are for Academy voters and members of the various Guilds (Screen Actors, Writers, Directors, etc) only. A full list of eligible names and categories below. Hopefully this means we will have a lot to celebrate at our own Oscar Party! [Website]

*wild applause!!* So many of the ol' gang are back! [In reply to] Can't Post

How GLORIOUS to FINALLY see the lineup of champions once again! I wonder if there's an ad (For Your Consideration) in the Variety magazine where all of the LotR "For Your Consideration" ads were displayed?

*runs to check magazine stacks*

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Those ads start in late December...but I could be wrong. It has been many many years since I last watched for those. Amazing, isn't it?

The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning.

Isn't it a bit early [In reply to] Can't Post

to promote The Hobbit for Academy Awards - before, you know, the film has even been put together?

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Some perspective [In reply to] Can't Post

It's great if the Hobbit will be considered for all those Best ofs.

I'm not sure how significant it is that there is a list of For your Considerations for the upcoming movie. Movie critics receive promotional copies of movies for viewing, along with For your Consideration lists. For example, remember that movie Starship Troopers from the 90s, directed by Paul ("Showgirls") Verhoeven, starring Casper van Biem (or whatever the spelling)? I saw a For Your Consideration list for a movie critic's promo copy of that movie. For Best Director.. the dude who gave us Showgirls. For Best Actor...Casper Van whatsisname. Etc. (I'm being facetious...i'm sure it listed their names properly). I asked my movie critic friend about it. Apparently the promo copies always come with "suggestions" like that.

Just sayin'. I hope this FYC list for TH will end up be something more realistic than the Starship Troopers one.

Starship Troopers [In reply to] Can't Post

Is a classic satire. I think it deserved a number of nominations.

Showgirls is awful, on the other hand.
