Another soundtrack thread? why not! Can't Post

What do you think of Adele for one of the closing songs? She did a great job with the theme to Skyfall. Also I'm not crazy about Crowded House, never was, so Finn's not hitting the nostalgia/retro vein for me at all.

Adele.. [In reply to] Can't Post

She is not really fit for a Middle Earth themed song, imo. She just to.. erhm.. modern in a way.

Adele is not very Middle-Earthy [In reply to] Can't Post

You need that something in your voice and style of singing.

Björk couldn't sing TTT's closing song, so perhaps this time?

Neil Finn isn't particularly Middle Earthy to me. [In reply to] Can't Post

And yet I love the song. The style doesn't really strike me as fitting to Howard Shore's score, yet I still love the song.

Middle Earthy is kind of a subjective genre too...I only compare Finn's song to Shore's score because that's all we have for these films, musically.

What is Middle-Earthy? Seems subjective. Unless in comparison to Shore's soundtrack. Am I making sense?

I want Eminem as Bilbo, Yelawolf as Elrond, 50 Cent as Bolg and Ice-T as Gandalf... [In reply to] Can't Post

... to interpret the story as a hip hop-song, rapping over Howard Shore samples (imagine the fiddle tune from Concerning Hobbits looped in the background as Eminem raps his verse as Bilbo). It would be a pure classic!

I just heard the Finn song for the first time [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow, it really sucks ... that's unfortunate ... the only good thing is that I can watch the film now and not be hit with that song for the first time at the end of the movie, while expecting something decent

I can understand the dwarves sing a song, which reminds me a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean when the pirates sang, so it kinda fits that male baratone choir thing ... but the end of the movie shouldn't have crap while the credits role ... oh well, at least it won't be a shocking disappoint, just a disappointment. On a positive note, I'm certain Shore's score will by far make up for it

Well Bond themes are nothing if not based on tradition [In reply to] Can't Post

as are the opening visuals. It may seem like a bunch of random nonsense, and certainly the last three Bond title sequences have pushed the envelope somewhat, but there is a common thread running through all of them.

Agreed. [In reply to] Can't Post

I love the sound, the lyrics, Finn's wonderful voice - I've said this before, but it almost sounds like a story being told around the campfire, which is very fitting.

It's not only a great song for the end credits, but a great song in its own right. And I would think that even if I didn't already love Crowded House.

Quite obviously the people who wrote and produced the song don't think it's crap. Were they supposed to run it by you first?

Hehe... just a note [In reply to] Can't Post

it may not be clear from my lead post because I commented on the Finn song, but I was wondering who people might want to do subsequent theme songs over the credits.

Gah I just had a horrible thought: what if the Studio cheaps out and uses the same song over the credits for all three movies?
