One Month To Go! - Time To Avoid All Movie Websites Can't Post

Hi all,

I've decided. It's one month to go so i'm going to avoid anything Hobbit related. I don't want to see anymore footage, pictures or hear the soundtrack. I definetly want to avoid any reviews. See you Dec 15th! :)

Donīt avoid the reviews! What if the movie would totally suck?

I've been waiting for this movie for several years and I'm not just going to discard it if it receives negative reviews.

It'll be hard avoiding any spoilage, so thumbs up!

They're always just the critic telling about his opinions and tastes, and what's that to me?

Reviews [In reply to] Can't Post

I suspect it is reasoning like that which makes mediocre movies like Transformers successful.

You have fortitude that I do not. [In reply to] Can't Post

I am hopelessly addicted to everything Hobbit related and will likely read every review that comes out.

NZ [In reply to] Can't Post

Starting from Nov. 28. I will definitely avoid reading anything for 2 weeks. I expect too many spoilers floating in after NZ premiere.

Sometimes a mediocre movie is good enough [In reply to] Can't Post

I doubt anyone going into Transformers expects greatness, just 2 hours of robots beating each other up. And that's what they get. People keep coming back for more so seemingly they please their audience enough.

I don't mind trailers. [In reply to] Can't Post

But i would like to avoid reviews, even the knowledge whether someone liked it or not. I still don't know what to do, just stop going to film sites and forums for the last two weeks till premiere? I dunno if i have the will...

Good man. A wise sheep.

Overgrazing has been a problem in these parts. I know how to avoid the bad grass and let the good grass grow long, so I still visit occasionally and very selectively.

My solution [In reply to] Can't Post

- Unsubscribing from any feeds
- Getting busy with something else
- Not thinking of anything Hobbit related until the last 2-3 days before premiere, but still not getting onto websites.

That's what I'll do.

Our kids used to read a certain local movie critic [In reply to] Can't Post

and expect the opposite of what he said. If he said a movie was awful, they usually loved it, and vice versa.

There was one Finnish movie critic so infamous for hating EVERY movie he reviewed [In reply to] Can't Post

that once when I was still in the school, a random piece of text used in the grammar studies involved an analyze of why he sucked so much. A real life Crowning Moment of Awesome out of nowhere.

Actually, he didn't hate every movie he saw... he once gave 5 stars to a movie which he admitted was so painfully boring it's a test of person's determination to sit through it, but he concluded it must (still) be artistic and intelligent.

What's wrong with movies just being entertaining ? Couldn't it be some people watch movies to be entertained, and not to gain snobbery points?

In the 70's they said if you want to get some important message to be heard, make a nice catchy pop song to it, so it will stay in people's head and they'll hear what you have to say even without thinking about it.

The age of the Internet [In reply to] Can't Post

I love it that now everyone can voice their opinion and be heard if they have something interesting to say about a movie, years ago you just had to trust that one respected snob in the newspaper or TV to tell you which movie is worth seeing
