Sampling error [In reply to] Can't Post

The Maori/Native American chanting and heavy percussion made an awkward start for the 60-second preview, but work just fine in their proper context, IMO.

I must admit, i didn't like the credit songs from FotR and TTT,
but i really like this one. Especially the bits of
Far over the misty mountains cold lyrics and the melody.

Excellent!! [In reply to] Can't Post

Sounds really great! I love that it's so different from the songs in the trilogy, yet seems to fit right in with the story. I also love that it's set to the theme from the teaser and features Tolkien's writing (which immediately sets it apart from the trilogy's songs).

Despite being excited for these movies before, I must admit the music previews we've been hearing lately have really reignited that LotR-era passion in me. Hard to believe we are now just a month away! Smile

"All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible."

It's one of those tunes you'll be humming for days after you come out of the theatre!

I can't pick out the lyrics. [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know if it's my speakers, but I can't pick out the words from the music. Hopefully it'll sound clearer in the cinema.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

That was beautiful, IMO...though the chanting/clanging was somewhat overbearing and the weaker part of the song.

I hope the film is good as the score seems to be. Smile

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

Just fantastic! Long-time fan of Neil and he's never let me down. [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a great song and the lyrics work as an adapted/alternate version from the book and what we will hear the Dwarves sing earlier. I absolutely love the mention of the Arkenstone!

This feels like it threads nicely through the quest and what we're gonna see onscreen. The best movie theme songs are the ones that have that direct connection and aren't simply a ploy to attract attention to the film.

I get the feeling Neil was destined to be involved with these films in some way. He's been such a big part of NZ culture and his voice belongs here. This is one of my favourite songs of his from back in the day...

It is special [In reply to] Can't Post

Love the chorus and the anvil/hammer effects, very dwarfy!
Of course the 'misty mountains' theme and lyrics give it a huge boost... It will become a hit!

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Lyrics *Spoilers* [In reply to] Can't Post

*Spoiler warning for those who don't want to know the lyrics*

Okay, this is what I've come up with. I still can't catch some of it. Anyone hear something different?

Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Lead us standing upon the height
What was before we see once more
Is our kingdom a distant light

Fiery mountain beneath a moon
The words aren't spoken, we'll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who find us will know the tune

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the back of us yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All eyes on the [???]

To the Lonely Mountain [?]
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness a torch we hold

From long ago where lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
A fate unknown, the Arkenstone
What was stolen must be returned

We must away ere break of day
To find our song for heart and soul

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the end of it yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All eyes on the [???]

To the Lonely Mountain [?]

We'll ride in the gathering storm
Till we get our long forgotten gold

Far away the Misty Mountains cold.

I think the first line might be "All lies up a hidden door" and I'm not sure that he says another word after "Lonely Mountain".

I don't think he says "We must away ere break of day" where you said that but I'm not sure what he actually says...Angelic
