If you could choose any (human) character from Middle-Earth, who would you be? Can't Post

I've said human characters for two reasons:
The idea of the poll is for it to be "real" in a sense, i.e. as Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves etc don't exist in the real world (sadly, I know), you must pick a character that you could actually be (or at least be similar to) if we were living hundreds of years in the past.

Secondly, I want to avoid people picking Dwarves, Elves or Hobbits because of their lifespan (Dunedain are still allowed though). This is because, as sad as it may be, there is no point hiding from it: we will all die one day.

Sorry if any of my reasoning for this sounds odd or morbid, but hopefully you can see what I'm getting at even if it's not expressed terribly well. That aside, who would you be?

My personal preference would be "Other" (I'd be Malbeth the Seer)

P.S. Sorry for the lack of female options, hopefully the "other" option will do the trick

Maybe they do in reality, in another world far away from here...lol [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not saying they don't exist in real life...just not to our knowledge.

Technically Bombadil doesn't count, as he is a being of much greater power. But since you asked, I'll let you off and you can have him.

I wouldn't go for Bombadil anyway [In reply to] Can't Post

Not enough people like him!

I'd go for one of the Edain - perhaps Beor himself - First Age everything are always superior.Smile

Beren [In reply to] Can't Post

He has a great story. Enslaved by Sauron, deceives Morgoth, carried by eagles, holds a Silmaril, dies, returns to Middle-earth.

And best of all, he marries the most beautiful being in all of Middle-earth. It doesn't get much better than that!

Big lifespan, big boat, rich, brave warrior, and friends with Cirdan and the other Elven leaders-not to mention having knowledge of Arda's mysterious other continents....

I almost picked Aldarion [In reply to] Can't Post

I love the story. I find it very interesting, and sad that it was never finished.

Ultimately, though, his story is pretty sad, and I wouldn't want to live that. I'm fine with just reading it Tongue

Faramir [In reply to] Can't Post

He used to like wizards, stories with dragons, he's not the big strong chap but has other privileges, acclaimed morale and he ends up being the prince of Ithilien and right hand of the king, with a beautiful woman on his side...

They ultimately die knowing that they will be united again in death since she has chosen to be counted among Men and go where they go beyond the world.

The gender problem strikes again... [In reply to] Can't Post

Unless I wish to be a man I'm out of options here. And because boring old horsey me can't part with the beasts I guess the answer would be "Eowyn or any other woman of Rohan would do"

My favourite - as in "most interesting" - human character from that list is Denethor but I quite certainly wouldn't want to be him. I'd totally stand by, watch his life and marvel at how he came to be that demented old chap but that's as far as my fascination goesTongue

Who Would I be [In reply to] Can't Post

That's a tough question, in the sense that there is in my view, lots of interesting Human character in Middle-Earth. After reflection I've narrow it down to 4 characters: Aragorn, Faramir, Tùor and Éomer. To choose one my choice would be Aragorn. He is obviously a very interesting character, not only because he is the heir of Isildur but for his personality, his values and his inner forces. One have to mention his greater life span as well. It's simply just hard not to choose him and I am not suprised to see thta others did so as well.
