Since there are more positive choices, than negative.
I think it will receive a mixture of reviews - and obviously, it will be compared to the previous, very successful trilogy. Overall, I expect it to get "good" reviews.
It won't receive "outstanding" reviews, since that leaves nothing for the other two films. Plus the repeated captured-rescued plot in AUJ means the film will loose a few marks.

But the fans will love it, the Academy will bestow its finest award at the end of the series, and Philippa Boyens will explain why the critics were wrong and why she is totally right in the Screenplay 101 commentaries.

there's been so much copy-cat fantasy of lesser quality since LotR that it will be very difficult for any more of it, even with its LotR connections, to be well appreciated. I think saturation set in, and now it will take a lot to get positives out of the critics.

With mostly positive reviews. You can never please everyone so some reviews will be just ok and others bad but on average i think it will gain great reviews from audiences and critics - i hope it does i want it to be better than LOTR - not that they were bad, they were great, but just who wouldnt want something even better!

I think the Hobbit part 1 will receive good critics review, as a film. Where it coud be more complicated and I do think it will, is how does it stands in comparison with the book. It may turn out to be a film with nice visual and special effect, acting and rythm but a lot different form the book. There are clear indications that it will be different in many ways and that bothers me. It could get worse after seeing it to the point of disliking it. But I'll remain positive right now.

Additionally, I think that reviews will be different for each movie.
AUJ: a new focus audience of comedy lovers, WOW gamers, and families with kids will come out for this one. Some will love the comedy but a few will hate it, feeling it "doesn't belong" or "is too different than the precise British style comedy of the book" but it will be contagious and earn a new fanbase. Some kids might get a little scared but I'm guessing they will still want to see the next ones because it doesn't quite have a dark tone ... just a few goblins and things.
DOS: a common theme in reviews for this will be that the "errors of AUJ got corrected as the film shifted from comedic to dramatic and a little more adult (i.e. dark and important)". Actually this is going to happen just because of the change in content - it is more dark and important and while there is still comedy, it isn't quite as much of an emphasis in the story itself so it probably won't be as much of an emphasis in the movie either - no matter how much it was loved - although there will still be enough comedy to keep that fanbase earned from the first movie happy since these tend to be people who are looking for reasons to be happy rather than looking for reasons why something does or does not meet their standards of excellence. People will complain about how the dragon is handled no matter what they do (because there are multiple possible good ways to do it and some people just hate it when things don't go the way they wanted), and others will complain about Dol Guldur no matter what they do (because it isn't in the book and no matter what is done, it can't match the divergent imaginative expectations of every Tolkien fan) - but the complaints will be out-numbered by the happy fans saying "cool dragon!" and "spooky Dol Guldur!"
TABA:if people compare it to Game of Thrones, it just isn't quite as dramatic (in terms of the content) and if people compare to ROTK it isn't quite as epic (again, in terms of content) ... if the dragon isn't in it any more then the response is going to depend on how much people got attached to Thorin and how much they relate to Bilbo's point of view. If there is still a dragon, then this will probably take the attention and the comparisons with GOT and ROTK will be more close since that dragon does add something that neither GOT nor ROTK have.
I hope that we never hear "the graphics really improved from movie X to movie (X+1)" because I hope they do that early. But if it doesn't get done early then we will hear it.
