good monologue or audition scene from the Hobbit book? Can't Post

Hi everyone! First I want to say that right now I'm very excited, the college I'm at played the Two Towers extended editions in the on campus theatre! And I supplied the movie! It was great seeing it on the big screen, the EE version for the first time.

Ok, I really want to try doing a monologue or any good audition scene from The Hobbit, for the role of Bilbo. I want to put it up on youtube, and see what people think. But mostly, I just want to try acting the role of Bilbo from The Hobbit, for myself personally. So I was wondering if anyone here knows any really good scenes from the book that would make a god monologue? I can't seem to think of any, and I'm to busy to sit down and read through the book right now.

How long does a monologue have to be for an audition? [In reply to] Can't Post

Bilbo doesn't have a lot of long speeches. There is that nice hobbity bit at the beginning where he meets Gandalf and tries to send him on his way, or his more Tookish exclamations when he finds out Gandalf's identity. You also might be able to make something of Bilbo's conversation with Smaug, or with Thorin about the Arkenstone, or his "Road goes ever on" poem toward the end. Good luck!

Where's Frodo?

I think the Smaug ones are really good ones.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.

You could get really ambitious.... [In reply to] Can't Post

...and do the "Riddles in the Dark" scene!
