Glad you're okay, though!
My embarrassing moment has to do with being in the shower when the fire alarm went off in my dorm at college. Fortunately, a friend in a neighboring residence hall let me hang out in her room till the "all clear" was given. (Yes, I was able to grab a towel on the way out!  )

... and I didn't even know it! 
I found out a few years ago that this little "Mount" is actually a "dormant" volcano" on a faultline, which finally made the earthshakes* make sense, but just served to shoot down my delusion that I was living in a safe haven (we don't usually get extremely bad weather, unless you count the usual snowstorm and one ice storm, but we usually just get the leftovers from everyone else).
*I've been watching waaaaaaay too much Land Before time.

Sorry diedye, but that really is funny.
I've been there - well, not the 'running into family while not dressed for polite company', but when I was about 10 I was in the loo when a decent quake hit. I wondered why Dad had hit the house with a bulldozer ... then remembered that Dad didn't *have* a bulldozer ... earthquake!

when we had a 6.5 here years ago. Then my folks got invited to a costume party where you were supposed to dress as you were when the earthquake hit!
