I've been questionning this precise photo too ! [In reply to] Can't Post

It could be the sky's reflection, but it seems a bit more. And Orcrist should be glowing, so...

I want it to [In reply to] Can't Post

Its doesn't have to be over the top the way sting is IMHO. But it should have some kind of glow and magic to it. The glow on Glamdring was never gonna come through on screen if they had done it the way sting does in the movies. I always saw it as a bright white light from that sword.

Will it glow? Probably not. Wink

I'll have to do some searching to see if we've had any confirmation. I can't recall any off the top of my head.

In the image you shared, that is definitely the sky reflected on the blade.

It's unlikely it will glow [In reply to] Can't Post

Because it didn't glow in LOTR, causing a bad continuity error. They've established it as a regular sword, so it needs to stay that way. It would be like Obi-Wan handing Luke his father's blue lightsaber in A New Hope, but in the prequels Anakin used a green one (of course, there were plenty of other errors that Lucas couldn't be bothered to care about).

Judging by trailer and pictures [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm really optimistic about the whole glowing Orcrist thing. Judging by the „Dwarves" ending for second trailer, even though it's not clearly seen, they won't change the non-glowing Glamdring. But as Orcrist seems to have more in common with Sting rather than Glamdring, I'm pretty sure it'll glow as well.

And come on, it's so cool to bury it with him and use it as a warning beacon for the time, when orcs try again to siege Erebor.

That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!
So, carefully! Carefully with the plates!

Haha, oops [In reply to] Can't Post

I flipped it with Glamdring. I change my position from "Very unlikely" to "Doubtful" for this sword. Sting will still steal the show IMO.

Are their any toys that might give it away? Bilbo with glowing sword Sting? Thorin with non-glowing sword?

Actually this report suggests Glamdring does glow. [In reply to] Can't Post

http://io9.com/5926047/martin-freeman-owns-the-role-of-bilbo-in-first-hobbit-footage.

"We saw a quick succession of snippets: Gandalf on his horse. Then Gandalf holding a great sword, which lights up the darkness"

Though it may of course be under different circumstances. I wonder if it might be presented as an alternative to his staff-crystal I.e. glowing at his behest.

I'm wondering if they will simply have [In reply to] Can't Post

a relationship between Orcrist and Sting and leave Glamdring out of it as just a separate sword found in the troll Horde. Just a thought because looking at the 3 swords Orcrist and Sting have similar shapes where Glamdring looks to be a totally different design. Probably the easiest way for them to explain why Glamdring doesn't glow in LOTR.

Goblins and Orcrist [In reply to] Can't Post

This is the only shot I've found to have goblins and Thorin with Orcrist. You can just see it in his right hand behind Dwalin. The angle is bad but it is not glowing. Maybe they will add a glow later, but if I had to bet, I would say not.

http://heirsofdurin.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/t170.jpg

I just feel like we would have seen something more definitive by now.

Gah I hate repeating myself, but [In reply to] Can't Post

it's more than just the sun... the blade has a halo around it that does not extend to the guard and pommel. It's as if it is in soft focus, which given the clean lines and shiny finish on the blade does not make sense.

As for Glamdring it has the blue glow people might be expecting in this image: http://filmcellsltd.com/...cellstdusfc5909.aspx

This is the third time for Orcrist and second time for Glamdring that I've shared these observations/links and will say no more.

(Aside to sinister: Hope you are feeling better... actually I'm counting on it Wink .)
