Did Aragorn really float unconsciously down the river Anduin?

Others can tell you more. I only read LOTR once and I took some pauses that disrupted the flow. Also, I saw the films first so I really don't remember ever detail from the books, but I do know that the "little tumble off the cliff" was something added to the film that wasn't in the book.

What do you mean? I'm talking about when Aragorn floated down the river. Anyway,I was aware that there was no Warg attack, I just wanted to know if the Grace of the Valar scene where Aragorn floats down the river was in the book, even though I'm aware that that scene was after the Warg attack which is why he fell into the river in the film.

That was all just for the movie. None of it was in the book. There was no point in any of the books in which Aragorn floated unconscious down the Anduin.

As others have said, that was just in the LOTR movies. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it here!

It's really a great part of the films, isn't it!? Another interesting tidbit about Aragorn floating down the river is that Viggo did it in his full costume including the wool cloak... which acted like an anchor. As he got down the speeding river, it reached a rocky curve which created a whirlpool that dragged him underwater and held him there... hitting against the rocky wall and unable to rise out of it. The safety people in nearby boats were moving in to try and help when Viggo... who began to feel he was not going to make it... suddenly kicked against the rocks and jetted up to the surface. A truly terrifying moment!!! I'm so glad you found your way to TORN :) Have fun!
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world. TORn's Observations Lists Unused Scenes

...you really should! You haven't had the opportunity to meet Tom Bombadil, or Goldberry, or Fredegar Bolger, or the Barrow Wights! There's just so much that is in the books that wasn't put into the movies because there wasn't time. And gramma *waves* I hate to disagree with you, but there were very few things...heck, nothing!...that was not in the books but was put in the movies. As far as I can tell, scenes like Aragorn floating down the river and having that dream scene with Arwen were there mainly so the filmmakers had an excuse to keep Liv Tyler around. There's a reason TTT was my least favorite movie of the trilogy.

Aragorn's "fall", as others have said, was not in the books...but the ending of the scene, with that vision of Arwen, has more of a basis in the books. There are several references to Aragorn and Arwen's relationship as the thing that kept him going, though it's always a rather hidden/implied thing. I liked the way the films found a way to visualize this as part of this scene. You might enjoy a visit to TORn's LOTR Movie Board, where many questions like this are much discussed! Welcome and make yourself at home!
