After waiting this long, it's freaky to thing the waiting will one day end... how do you live if you don't wait, count the days, wake up every morning to check TORn for news?
But every word you say today Gets twisted 'round some other way And they'll hurt you if they think you've lied

If one is set on being there at the midnight showing or whenever it first plays - well then you (or a really reliable friend/family member) get to the theater super early and make (or start) a line. If you're there early enough you just ask the theater where they want to start one - or if you're lucky they're organized and have some things roped out - I remember they did this for the Star Wars Prequels. The closer you are to the front of the line, the easier it is to get good seats since you get in before the others do. Then you have a couple people "hold seats" if there's a group of ya and the others go and get the goodies. Or, if you're not set on going to the first showings, just slip in on a weekday early a couple days after the movie has been out. The lines aren't as long, usually.

From your post and Magpie's in another thread, I've seen that FOTR and TTT were both said to be around 2:45 minutes at one time, but they later changed to 3 hours. Wouldn't it be funny if the same thing happened again?

I was a bit unsure if I should wait after the premiere to see it, so that I could go with my friends (who are not as big a fan as I am) but I decided to go to the midnght premiere and then to the normal premiere also. I just know that my mind will be so blown from the midnight premiere that I have to see it again after a few days to take it all in!

I'm happy for you you've already got your tickets. Well, 2:44 hours, that's not as long as FOTR but I was hoping splitting The Hobbit into three parts meant shorter films. But I suppose, to quote Roger Ebert , no good film can be too long...

So is there no 48fps screenings in Norway?

No one seems to have mentioned the availability of 48fps. I would think that if the cinemas had it available one would be able to either buy a ticket for a 24 or 48fps screening. Does this mean that people in Norway won't see the film in 48fps or are the cinemas themselves not quite sure if they will show it yet? I live in Denmark, and I am VERY concerned that we will have too few (or none at all) cinemas to show the Hobbit in 48fps.

I bought tickets yesterday and asked if they were showing it in 48fps or 24fps, to which the person behind the counter answered "Only tickets for the 48fps screenings available so far".

I don't think we could see the film in 24fps :o But I don't mind, I wanted 48fps, 4K and 2D, and I got it :D

Aw, that's good news! And here I'm thinking that the 48fps was the exception :) Thanks for clarifying

The movie's not finished, they may still add or remove scenes. I guess, they would re-rate it...

There would have to be major additions for them to re-rate it this late

They would have been working towards a particular rating for months now. I can't imagine it would suddenly be re-rated so close to the premiere.
