Here's a new link to a set of detailed photos of our two favorite Mirkwood elves:

Now if only they at least have a cameo inserted in the first film...

TBD 375 inch figures [In reply to] Can't Post

Good to see close ups of the Elves!

I posted a link in the Yazneg thread but it might as well go here, too:

Cose up images of the 3 3/4 inch Grinnah, Fimbul & warg, Bolg and Gandalf figures from The Bridge Direct over on a collecting forum. The warg looks particularly ferocious...

The detail and paint job on these figures is pretty amazing, considering their size.

Don't want to be negative but... [In reply to] Can't Post

The personality profile on the back of the Tauriel character has me rolling my eyes.

Her job is to follow the Kings' orders without question...but has a strong will and unyielding passion for what she believes to be right.

So in other words we can assume that at some point she disobeys the king's orders (and I'm guessing here) to help or at least not kill the dwarves.

I smell yet another Jackson invented story arc designed to tick another audience profile box. Shoehorning in a strong female fighting role where none exists and sell more toys in the process.

Descriptions are always pretty naff [In reply to] Can't Post

I wouldn't be too concerned - her character might turn out to be a lot different!

Blurbs are just blurbs... [In reply to] Can't Post

...So don't worry too much about such descriptions; they are made up by someone in the advertising department of the toy company, who got it
second or third hand from someone in the film production company. For a good laugh, read some of the character descriptions put out by the TV
network for the original "Star Trek" series (they can be found in the book "The Making of Star Trek" by Stephen Whitfield). Mr Spock was described
as "...probably half Martian, he has the strongest curiosity about anything "alien" .."

Don't mess with my favorite female elf.

Hopefully they are not in the first film at all [In reply to] Can't Post

As it would take some real gymnastics to work them into a film that ends before Mirkwood.

Makes up for everything that's wrong about the new figures!!

http://forum.rebelscum.com/...medium/IMG_35462.jpg

That being said, I finally got a look at most of them in the store. They had all but the 6" Bilbo. The 3.75" Bilbo is probably the worst of the lot, while the 6" is one of the best (at least from the images). I feel they are inconsistent as to quality of likeness and details on the whole. I bought the 6" Thorin without any reservations, but with Gandalf I'll wait to see if they make something better (I still have my ToyBiz versions after all). Legolas and Tauriel didn't charm me into a purchase (in either scale).

Not charmed... [In reply to] Can't Post

...by Tauriel?? Shocked Say it isn't so!

She'll remember that...and when Thorin squares up to her in Mirkwood, she's gonna drop-kick him about 20 yards Wink .

Doubt it... [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been discussed before. Toy manufacturers always release "see-through" (unpainted) toys as "limited editions" (faulty models) if they can find an excuse to do so. Iron man had a "holographic" model, for example. Just Google "Twilight Frodo" and you'll see: http://www.google.co.uk/...f.&biw=1920&bih=1017

Blame it on the paint job [In reply to] Can't Post

Ms. Tauriel's innate charms were hampered by a weird application of too much red/pinkish tint to her head. It may have just been the limited selection I had to look at, but it was much worse than the prototype. They seem to have done similar with Gollum and the Goblin king. Just take away the crazy pink accents and the figures would come out okay.

With Legolas the shape of his head seemed off.
