Wellington's talents will be showcased to the world when the Hobbit premiere takes place next month, but just how the event will pan out is yet to be revealed.
The world premiere will be happening in Courtney Place on November 28, with thousands of people expected to turn out for the red-carpet event.
Wellington mayor Celia Wade-Brown says a major announcement about the premiere will be made next week.
"It's a great opportunity to tell the Wellington story, to tell the talent story, to tell the story of Wellington both as a place to do business, to do film but also as a place to visit."
