Lasselanta - found on the internet archive Can't Post

I ran across this entry in the news archives:
Everyone say Welcome!

The latest website to join TheOneRing.net(TM) is ‘Lasselanta’!

Lasselanta is a Community web site primarily aimed at supporting the T.O.R.n messageboard community by providing a more permanent space for activities related to them. Thus we archive parodies posted on the boards and host the schedule for the Lord of the Rings reading group. But it also has material inspired by T.O.R.n or simply cooked up by Gorel.

I checked the archived page (on TORn) for Community Sites but Lasselanta wasn't on that page. So I checked out the Internet Archive and found this archived page: http://web.archive.org/...ring.net/lasselanta/

There are some song parodies, some copies of old discussions, some quizzes, etc. on there that some of the first agers (and second, third, and fourth agers... I have no idea what age we're in now) might be interested in browsing and/or saving to their harddrive.

Ooh, I'm glad you found that! [In reply to] Can't Post

Lasselanta was Gorel's site (only First Agers would remember who that is!) and was the original TORN board archive. Goeth-Helm then put together his TORN Humor Files site. The last time I went looking, that could not be found. Frown

There are some real classics here. I'll have to start saving stuff. Cool

A gem of ancient days! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for unearthing it, Magpie. That site brings back happy memories.

The Mr and I actually got to meet Gorel and the lovely Mistress Gorel, way back in the First Age.

Do we find happiness so often that we should turn it off the box when it happens to sit there?

Fantastic! [In reply to] Can't Post

What a great find of some long-lost treasures! Thank you so much Magpie :D

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

It sure is nice having a magpie around [In reply to] Can't Post

to collect gems like this for us :-) Thanks for a great link. It was fun perusing some of those old parodies again.

"For DORA BAGGINS in memory of a LONG correspondence, with love from Bilbo; on a large wastebasket. Dora was Drogo's sister, and the eldest surviving female relative of Bilbo and Frodo; she was ninety-nine, and had written reams of good advice for more than half a century."
