Wilhelm scream Can't Post

How many should we expect? My guess is at least once per film.

Previous film scream counts:
FOTR: 0
TTT: 1
ROTK: 2

Supposedly PJ didn't know about the Wilhelm scream until TTT, and he loved it. He even increased the volume of the scream so it would be more noticeable in ROTK.

Personally I hope it's not included, it's a meme that takes me out of the movie everytime I hear it.

Once per film seems likely [In reply to] Can't Post

And if it is, I won't recognise it (straight away). I'm too busy watching the film, and since it will all be new the first time, there will be too many sounds and visuals to listen to. It wouldn't take me out of the moment, since I'm not waiting for it to appear. It's not anymore distracting than Bilbo being played by two different actors.

And WHO will scream? [In reply to] Can't Post

Maybe there will be no Wilhelm screams at all. I don't think goblins and wargs scream like that hehe.
Perhaps someone in a flashback though. Thoughts?

I like when the scream is used [In reply to] Can't Post

Some people (far too observant people) say that it undermines the seriousness of a scene and sucks all the drama away... But it's just an Easter Egg for people to spot. A long running film tradition like 'See You Next Wednesday'. Only film buffs really recognize where or how it's used, and I've never seen it fully 'misused'. I say, bring on the Wilhelm scream! Dying elf, ahoy! Cool

The worst part about the one on the Pelennor [In reply to] Can't Post

Is that it precedes one of the most gloriously beautiful shots in the film, with Gandalf driving away the Nazgul with a white light.

Smiley faces scribbled over the Mona Lisa, and all that...

I warn you... [In reply to] Can't Post

once you hear it... especially hear it over and over like in those example videos... you'll never fail to hear it when it's used.

And it will be one of those 'oh look... an easter egg' moment. That might amuse you or annoy you. Depending on the circumstances, I'm sure.

One show where I've seen it used to an absurd point is Primeval.

I like the cat scream sound effect [In reply to] Can't Post

http://soundbible.com/1509-Cat-Scream.html

Usually used when things fall or are tossed off screen. It's even funnier when there's no sign of a cat before hand... so like everywhere in Middle-earth is appropriate for this gag.

Any of these would do [Halo 3 Splatter and Scream Montage] Some sound like modified Wilhelms. My favourite is at 1:40 -- makes me laugh whenever that one happens (and yes for the uninitiated there's more to the game than driving around splattin' people).

Bonus: Halo, its all about the Wilhelms
