Can someone with skills make an edit of the trailer... Can't Post

That includes Howard Shore music (from both the original teaser and the LOTR films), as well as clips from the teaser, including the dwarf singing? It would be an interesting experiment to see how we would react to that.

agreed [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm in complete agreement with you on this experiment! I feel that the majority of people's disappointments with this trailer, dealing with the non-middle-earth feel, was due to the music that was used. The music clearly has the Narnia theme hidden within, which people may or may not have realized this, and is probably the reason why many instantly thought of Narnia. I did. The melody was SO eerily similar. I think we might be pleasantly surprised at what we have with this trailer if we heard it through Mr. Shores perspective! Music will make or break a film. If you look at the most successful movies, what do they all have in common? A fantastic and memorable score! Something you can walk away from, feeling as if you've been a part of the world. What did Narnia have? A very average and cliche score. Well, that's the only real thing I saw missing from this trailer. The music that was used was not Howard Shore and it came as a horrible shock to a lot of people. Music has EVERYTHING to do with the feeling and tone we perceive from film. Absolutely everything! Take away the soundtrack from a terrifying horror film and replace it with the Beatles and you have something that is just plain comical. The soundtrack, again, means absolutely everything. I have faith that all will be well on December 14th! Smile

I had the same idea and am working on it... [In reply to] Can't Post

but it's gonna be extremely hard to use all of the dialogue from the second trailer. Also, scenes from the first trailer are very different in tone than those from the second. imagine ending the first trailer with the Goblin King falling on the dwarves. It just doesn't fit.

I'll see what comes out of it though :)

why stop at the trailers? [In reply to] Can't Post

If I wasn't trying to enter the teaching profession this year (curse you, assignments!) I was kicking around the idea of getting the vlogs and the trailer(s) and cutting together a chronological 'movie' to see what's still missing.

Mashup trailer coming up [In reply to] Can't Post

My computer is encoding it right now, will upload to YouTube as soon as it's finished.

It's become a bit of a mess, as the different scenes just do not all fit together nicely in a trailer. Also, the audio sounds a bit chaotic at times due to the music from the second trailer still being audible during dialogue. If anyone has the time and patience to fix that, be my guest ;)

I expect it'll be online in half an hour.

The few moments with abrupt cuts and odd sound are understandable given what you're working with. I really enjoyed it! Makes you realize just how important Howard Shore is to the movies...

Good Effort! [In reply to] Can't Post

Quite a good start there, I don't have many problems with the music in the new trailer apart from that it's pretty generic, but I can see how adding Shore's soundtrack can really help. I see what you mean in your video description that some parts seem a little chaotic and the audio is a bit off but the Misty Mountains epic theme fits really well with the action sequences and the warg chase. Overall you've done pretty good job and I'm interested to see more peoples reaction.

I also like your invitation for others to possibly chip in, in the description. This could turn out to be a real community effort.
