Server overload or something? Can't Post

Maybe it's just me, but browsing the site here right now for the past 1-2 hours has been incredibly slow. Maybe it got something to do with the intense Hobbit-mania that's going on right now (leaked production video and brand-new pictures etc)

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.

I imagine so ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I normally use Internet Explorer, and it takes ages for TORn pages to load. I'm now on Google Chrome, but even then it can only handle one page at a time.

It is fun though! :-D

You speak for me also [In reply to] Can't Post

This computer has been playing up big time while I've been on TORN of late. Based on what I've seen, it's probably due to the amount of people trying to access the forums as you suggested (about 10 new threads have been posted on The Hobbit board today!). A thread I made yesterday evening is already as near as makes no difference on page two.

Same here! [In reply to] Can't Post

Anything on TorN is taking an eternity to load. This seem to only happen on the site so I do believe there must be a problem rhere.

browswers [In reply to] Can't Post

at the moment, I happen to have TORn up in three different browswers: Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

Chrome is pretty fast for me. Firefox isn't too bad. But I just give IE a click and go read something else on the forums while it processes. Holy Moly I don't know how people use that browser!

I normally always use IE [In reply to] Can't Post

This is one of the first times I have given up on it. Though Chrome is just as bad at the moment. All of TORn is on meltdown it seems.

I'm someone that doesn't like change - I'm set in my ways. Once the forum calms down and TORn loads in a reasonale amount of time, I'll be back on it [;)]

in the last 7.5 hours... [In reply to] Can't Post

...since I last checked in before work...

there have been 14 NEW threads and 534 NEW posts on The Hobbit board!

I'm kind of glad I was at work and not tempted to try to keep up. I'll be looking for your Hobbit Headline thread to find out what I might have missed!

Hint: temporarily switch your forum view to 'collapsed' [In reply to] Can't Post

Silverlode reminded me earlier that if you go into to Edit Profile, then to Display Setting, and switch your "Forum View" to collapsed, the boards load much faster. You then have to expand any threads you want to read, but at least you get that far. Laugh

It's funny how when big news hits [In reply to] Can't Post

the number of new threads spikes.... people just wanna be heard I guess.

Incidentally since the last time I posted Hobbit numbers (just over a week ago here) we were averaging about 8.? new threads per 24h day and around 300 new posts. Today in the roughly 12 hours since the English trailer was posted by Mordae, there's been 16 threads (counting theirs) and 740 new posts -- double the average number in half the time.

Edit make that 17 new threads, one was started in the time it took to make this post. Laugh

(Including Altaira's thread asking people to post in existing threads the number is 18.)
