Miniature Bag End

Can't Post

If we've never sent you to Obelia Medusa's LiveJournal to view the miniature Bag End, we should have! Ms. Obelia has recreated Bag End in teeny weeny doll house scale, and it is quite simply astonishing. There are two posts in her Journal related to this project, one a photo tour and the other a detailed back-story on its creation. As we mentioned, we may have reported this in the past, as the Journal entry is from 2005, but Ringer UncleAndy recently reminded us of this masterpiece, and we thought we'd share! That's been posted here a couple of times before, and it's always well worth a re-posting, thank you! That has got to be one of the most exquisite labors-of-love ever crafted!

I always imagined Bag End to be a little bit more open. But this work of art will surely do as a fantastic representation of Bilbo's home. The miniature food has another fan!

This belongs in a museum. I hope she doesn't just have it lying around exposed to the elements, and ... house pets. {sigh} ... some people are just so creative and talented. And on an entirely different note ... can I live there ???? It's furnished so much better than my real life home ....

I've been following her work since it first surfaced a few years ago. She's accomplished something SO beautiful and unique. I'm thoroughly impressed at how she kept at it! It's inspiring and brilliant :)

I cannot discern! It is not happening. Nope. My eye tells me naught to the reality. I am serious. Because of it, it is such a delight . A lot of love went into this.
"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. The recovery of a true view of the world applies both to individual things, like hills and stones, and to the cosmic - the depths of space and time itself. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world." Tolkien and C.S. Lewis- The Gift of Friendship -Duriez May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings!
In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo By El~Cugu From the website: 'The Realm of Manwe'
