Not quite sure what to make of it. [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know what the funds would have gone towards, or if either party here was being particularly greedy. It's a shame that they're just collecting dust someplace though. They should be collecting dust in some prominent place! Wink Seriously though, I'd love to visit a museum like that. I loved walking through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, and I've not yet been to a film museum as of yet! Imagine each movie having its own section... Quite exciting and expansive!

We'll get one eventually. [In reply to] Can't Post

Seeing some of the costumes from LOTR on display in LA once, close enough to see the detail and almost touch, was a thrill. The Weta Cave has some nice things in it now, but there is so much more.

Sorry I don't know how to post a link to the google maps location, but you can paste the address below for the new Chocolate Fish Cafe and then walk around in the Shelly Bay location they mention in the article. It's at the bottom of Mt. Crawford where the Dale set is. http://www.theonering.net/...t-another-12-months/

I read this on a local news source this morning and was absolutely disgusted. [In reply to] Can't Post

The fact that the person in question is subject to other investigation says a great deal. Sir PJ was right to reject this situation, as the fee proposition reflects the greed apparent by a select few in land settlements and deals that are meant to benefit a much wider community.

Although the Weta Cave is enjoyable enough it only ever shows a very small fraction of what was utilised in the LOTR movies. The Weta Cave is and always has been full with tourists and locals, even prior to The Hobbit hype when the ebb of interest between this trilogy and the last was at it's lowest. Demand for a museum will always be present for the immediate and foreseeable future.

The people named appear to have been a bit too cozy.

It's a pity because, if that area could be developed sensitively, it would be a real asset for Wellington. Though, I hope anything valuable would be housed higher up than the present buildings. One good storm surge and good-bye Arwen's coronation dress.Shocked (but maybe that's focusing on the wrong issue, eh?Evil)

Peter's been through this before. [In reply to] Can't Post

He doesn't seem to be intimidated if he doesn't agree with how things are going. Like when he fought to get The Hobbit filmed. IIRC, when New Line made unreasonable demands to make the film, he refused. He's not afraid to play chicken, or to be patient until the situation rights itself. He's also very busy making some movies right now, so he needs to use his energy there.

He'll have his museum :) It will take some time, but it will happen.

Thanks :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I did a Google map search of all 3 locations, did a screencap of it (hit Print Scrn on keyboard), pasted it into Microsoft Publisher, cropped it down and made a jpeg pic. If I need to edit it more or want to add text, I open the pic in Microsoft Paint. I use that process a lot when I want maps and such. :)

Hmmm. I certainly understand the reasoning behind that. A pity though; would have been the perfect spot. Much less likely to be visited by the masses than, say, Svalbard or Lop Nor. Unsure

But allow me to make yet an alternative suggestion:

We know there is a Huge Attraction at DisneyWorld based on HP?
What's the likelyhood of the same for MiddleEarth?
Sure Hobbiton is now Permenent near Matamata...but pretty remote.
My personal view is Not create Thrill rides based on ME..but it might be fun to Harmlessly Speculate..

No, not a Disney park. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is at Universal Studio's Universal Orlando Resort.

Probably unlikely unless this is something that Warner Bros./MGM/New Line can do without the consent of the Tolkien Estate.

Personally I have avoided much if not all of the
HP franchise.
Saw the. First movie. yet never having read a single page of her collection
I really felt she took too many ideas from you know who.
Just a personal. Preference...since I don't want upset any HP fans here.

No more than anyone else has, at any rate. Actually, I was waiting for her to introduce a race of High Elves to contrast with the diminished House Elves, but that never came up.
