Looking foward to it! [In reply to] Can't Post

From what I've read (reviews from the screening the other week), it sounds like it's going to be a great series opener. This is the first series where I've stayed away from too many spoilers - I no the basic plot of each episode, and some of the "villains", but that's about it.. It wasn't a conscious decision to stay away - After The Lord of the Rings finished, Doctor Who simply semi-filled the Tolkien shaped whole in my life. Now with The Hobbit coming out, Doctor Who has been pushed to one side Wink.

I have been a bit miffed about the BBC trailers though, especially this trailer. I find it really hard to hear what the Dalek is saying, and only realised the other day that the two Daleks near the end are saying "Doctor", one after the other!

And for others that didn't know, there is also a mini-series, called "Pond Life". There's a video a day up until the start on Saturday.

Quite fun, nothing especially amazing. Smile

Agreed! [In reply to] Can't Post

Have they got a purpose? When I first heard of them I thought they be a bit more "substantial".

I'll make a request now [In reply to] Can't Post

for the new season Dr Who spoilers to not be put in subject lines when the episodes are discussed here, for the benefit of us poor (delayed) Antipodeans! We managed quite well through all those years of LOST.

I'm really looking forward to this season. :)

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

I thought it was good fun and (SPOILERS) [In reply to] Can't Post

surprised when the new companion showed up a few months early. Didn't believe it was her at first. Then she turned out to be a Dalek who would not accept what she was.

Can't wait for next week

My two cents (spoilers) [In reply to] Can't Post

If I ignore my expectations of the episode, it was great fun. Brilliant episode, and what a surprise to have the new companion as a Dalek. Laugh

Problem is, I can't ignore my expectations. Where were all the Daleks from the past? The majority were RTD-era Daleks covered in cobwebs! I spotted hardly any. Where was all the action? Where were all the crazed Daleks? It was a big disappointment being called Asylum of the Daleks, and building all the hype for containing all the Daleks to have ever appeared. Predator of the Daleks would have suited much better, in my opinion.

Still, good start to the series. I'll re-watch tonight.

True [In reply to] Can't Post

Personally, I would have liked it if the cameos were more obvious though - giving them more screentime/action in the story would have been just fine. I wanted to see the classic Daleks on screen again, but we didn't really get that.

confounded expectations [In reply to] Can't Post

I had gotten very tired of the Daleks. They were scary in the 9th Doctor's time but began to bore me during the 10th Doctor's term. But I loved the twist at the end of this one, I thought Oswin was a great conceit, and . . . all in all, a very satisfying episode.

The episode is a lot better after another watch [In reply to] Can't Post

I think I expected too much. Now I've watched it twice, I know what to expect. So in a weird kind of way, it's better the second time round, than the first. It makes sense to me. Tongue
