Tolkien Studies, Volume IX Can't Post

Our friend Jason Fisher, aka Lingwe, aka visualweasel, informs us at his blog that the new issue of Tolkien Studies is now available on Project Muse, although the print version won't be available until next month. This volume is noteworthy to TORN (beyond the general interest of lots of great Tolkien content), in that it contains a fine review (written by Paul Edmund Thomas) of Jason's book, Tolkien and the Study of His Sources, and "The Year's Work in Tolkien Studies 2009," co-written our own N.E. Brigand (aka Merlin DeTardo), including some extensive comments about my book, Arda Reconsructed, which was originally published that year.

It also contains my own paper, "Law and Arda," which is an extensively rewritten version of the paper that I presented at Mythcon last year, under the title "Laws and Customs in Middle-earth, Numenor and Beyond". I hope some of you get a chance to read it, either through access to Project Muse or by getting a copy of the print volume which will be available through the publisher, West Virginia University Press, as I am curious to hear your thoughts about what I had to say.

Thank you! [In reply to] Can't Post

It will be two weeks at least before I get to read it; I'll try and post my inpressions of your essay.
