V-log #8 Screencaps Can't Post

Here are 270 HD shots from video log 8. They start at the stone giants in the footage from Comic-con and go from there. If you want the bits from before that check out this link which IncredibleSmaug provided. There is a lot of overlap between the Google album and mine, but I get more obsessive over certain parts (you can probably guess which) Wink

Thanks DarkJackal! [In reply to] Can't Post

I posted this in another thread, but will re-post here.

In this screencap:

You can see snow on the ground and a corpse. They seem to be wearing more regal clothing? I wonder if this is there first visit to Dale after reclaiming all the treasure.

Edit: Oh, and is this E.Lilly?

I don't think so.... [In reply to] Can't Post

I think this is their return to Dale after their 2 week stopover in Laketown BEFORE confronting Smaug and looking for the secret door. I think the timeline is either pushed back a little or they're depicting fall as a bit colder. There was also a screen cap of that dude floating through the laketown set with little sheets of "ice" on the water.

I mean, I guess it could be after the reclamation of the treasure.. I don't see why not. I'm just feeling contrary.

In the spirit of contrariness.... That's not Evangeline.

Unless they have another redhead female elf I'm pretty sure that is Evangeline (1 percent to possibility it's a body double, photo is blurry)

I've only noticed the "sheets of ice". Although, they do look like lillies?

My feeling... [In reply to] Can't Post

...was this was after laketown but before they get to the mountain the first time. The clothes strike me as something Laketowners would find for dwarves to wear, rather than what they would find in Erebor.

And how sad, no love for Lilly from that orc? Frown

The orc: "Puleeze lady."

Scrap my previous idea. This seems most likely.

The orc doesn't believe it is really Lilly. Can we call this issue Kategate? Wink

Great work DarkJackal! [In reply to] Can't Post

Was looking forward to these going up!

There appears to be something on Bilbo's jacket here as he encounters the Trolls:

And there appears to be a selection of Mirkwood Elf clothing here:

noticed it too... [In reply to] Can't Post

I noticed the "things" on Bilbo's jacket too. It almost looks like the jacket is just really wet around the shoulders and upper arms... evidence of a good strong rain storm.

Or maybe he was dipped in some "sauce" for cooking?

Thanks a lot DJ~ [In reply to] Can't Post

I was waiting for these, you are thorough as always! Heart

Seems like Smaug's fire really has a devastating effect on the human body - either you're calcified or burnt to ash.

I think I prefer the dwarves' original outfits to the ones they get in Laketown (the latter are a bit baggier naturally) but I also look forward to the regal armour they take from Smaug's hoard. Wonder if Bilbo will get a helmet? Laugh

Elf-wise I would wager that the lighter coloured clothes are for Rivendell elves, whereas we know from other pictures that the Mirkwood elves wear autumnal shades.

Had to go and check what colour hood Dwalin wears: I'm not sure whether that's green or brown but I hope you're right DanielLB Wink

When it's time to pray, we'll be dressed up all in grey, with metal on our tongues, and silver in our lungs.

One of my favourites [In reply to] Can't Post

Of the many, many, many screenshots I love from this vlog, this is one of my favourites that I didn't see in either DarkJackal or IncredibleSmaug's collection -

http://img689.imageshack.us/...66/frodoandbilbo.png

this lovely shot of Martin and Elijah next to each other. I really like it, young Bilbo and Frodo side by side, both smiling as the Hobbit logo comes up on the screen. Elijah looks almost as if he's about to cry.

I'm pretty sure that's Tauriel as well.

And I like Kategate :). It would be fan to see Tauriel all pissed of running after dwarfs into the unknown depths of Mirkwood while Legolas screams: "we have to go back Tauriel. WE HAVE TO GO BACK!"

And just to state the obvious - I don't care how many times Lilly "kills" you on set. That goblin's the stupidest guy alive.

Does look like ice. [In reply to] Can't Post

Wonder if they stay in Laketown long (like long enough for the season to begin to change), or if it's that cold during the barrel escape. That would be truly awful! I know Bilbo got a cold from it in the book, but that would cause hypothermia! Or maybe this is Laketown at some other point in time.

P.S. Wow you're sneaky!

And generally like it when characters change costumes throughout a film. Keeps things visually fresh. Indeed, I was already getting tired of seeing each of their respective get-ups!

Also great to see a glimpse of Ori's armor from the BoFA.

Wild guess is...troll snot! Freeman mentioned in one article about keeping up moral when you're covered in mud and snot, and there was talk a long time ago about a snot gun.
