why shouldn't it be Nain, Dain's father? He fought at the battle of Azanulbizar and was killed, therefore the very young Dain took control and slew Azog in revenge. Why shouldn't Dain have inherited his father's weapon as well as hit title then?

Something along the lines of: Legolas: "Finders keepers, losers weepers!" Thorin: "Not fair! That's what I was going to say!"

But Dain's most famous weapon from the Appendices is a red axe, not a red hammer.

That this is an army of dwarves rushing into Moria? I didn't think so at first, as it seems like they are running from inside to outside, and it doesn't seem to resemble the Moria gate... Confused...

Nain has a red hammer, and Dain has a red axe...Together, they are RED DWARF. If so, it is likely that what we are seeing is indeed the Battle of Azanulbizar. But the setting seems wrong. So, is it possible that PJ and company have conflated the attack on Erebor by Smaug, with the Battle of Azanulbizar? Perhaps this attack includes not just Smaug, but a horde of Goblins as well, led by Azog? This would seem to justify the massive Dale set, etc. Perhaps we are getting a full-scale, extended flashback of Smaug AND Azog's attack on Erebor and Dale, with goblins running through the streets and attacking soldiers and civilians, and Smaug raining fiery death from above? I think this is indeed possible. And to explain the moss growing on some of those Ereborian walls, perhaps PJ will imply that the dwarven realm was in decline, and thus was unprepared for the attack? Sort of like the barbarians at the gates of a diminished Rome? I hope this is not the case, as I want to see Azanulbizar at the foot of the Misty Mountains, where it belongs...

I've seen him in The Fall and Soldier's Girl. He was excellent in both movies but I think more challenging was his role in Soldier's Girl where he plays transexual dancer and singer who falls in love with a soldier of US army. He had to move, talk, dance and act like a woman. He did really good job in this movie. Legolas' costume: Yeah, looks almost like the one from LOTR. I also want to see him in some royal outfit.

I am not ashamed to say that I got a little emotional seeing the wonderful stills behind Peter. In particular, what looks like a Beorn interior at around the three minute mark is beautiful. It sounds cheesy, but M-E in all its forms has been such an important part of my life; I can't wait to be taken back. There is a sense that we are about to step through the wardrobe (yes, I know, different series, but the sense of wonder is appropriate).

Though since Legolas is blond with dark eyebrows, I think Thranduil will probably have yellow hair too Might be my mind playing tricks on me, but Legolas' outfit struck me as a bit longer and more elegant than in the trilogy. Perhaps when they re-made it those subtle changes just kind of happened. Maybe Tauriel is trying to make Kili jealous?

As soon as I saw the Stone Giants, I gasped!! They're one of the things I was so hoping would be there! And Beorn's Hall, and... oh cripes... everything is there! Orlando seemed to be so thrilled, and Elijah at Comic-Con seemed geeked as he waited at the stairs... Ian McKellen, Phillipa, and Andy had me clapping! I'm overwhelmed. Peter is so generous to do these for us... to keep us in the loop with so much understand and appreciation for how we feel. What a guy! And AND I'm grateful that the closing said "to be continued". There will be more of these. Maybe featuring Howard Shore and the music along with post-production!!! *twitch*

Particularly in this photo. She's decidedly chubbier, and her face is distinctly different. Honestly, she looks a bit Ren-Fair/cosplay, to me. Not really liking the look, with the cliched bodice, etc.

The nose profile is wrong. Lilly's nose has a curved profile (a "celestial nose"), whereas this Elf's nose is straight, bordering on "aquiline". https://plus.google.com/photos/116428360629190654024/albums/5768444577101042737/5768450900894276946 Unless the kissing motion is causing her nose to bend down, I don't think it's her.
