Fan club credits at the end of the extended DVDs Can't Post

Sorry if this question has been asked, but I'm new to the forum. I heard on a different site that the fan club credits were members of TORn and I was wondering if that's true. How did that work?

well... kind of... in a way.. to a small extent [In reply to] Can't Post

First, 'members of TORn' is an ambiguous term. There are staff members for the site in general. To post on the message boards, one must be registered and many people refer to them as 'members' but they are 'members' of the message board, not of the site. There are people who chat regularly at Barliman's ... to my knowledge, they don't refer to those people as 'members' but I don't know. And there are thousands and thousands of people who read the home page or lurk on the message boards without ever registering for anything. I would call them 'followers' of TORn. But there is no 'membership' one can have for TheOneRing.net in general.

Now to the fan club credits. The people who got their name in those credits were members of the LOTR Fan Club. That was run, I believe, via a license, by Decipher CCG company. It was not associated in any way with TORn.

But... staff members of TORn and people who were members of the message boards at TORn (and likely regulars at Barliman's... although I don't know) did join this LOTR Fan Club. The ones I know about used their real name and most use an online nick here. So if one 'knows' them... one can spot them. But if one only knows the user names, one would not spot them.

Hope that helps answer your question.
