The Map of MiddleEarth in the Movies Can't Post

Just finished a 3 movie marathon
and wanted to ask questions that need answers...

The main map in the beginning and then lovinling
panned over after Aragorn's coranation makes me
just cry. There seems to be a Relief of the Mountains
that is wonderful...

1. Has there been discussion about this over the years here?
2. Where is this SpecialMap? ( At the Weta Cave, PJ's Estate?)
3. How big is it? ( It must be Huge to have Camera
cruise over it in such detail.)
4. Who created it?
5. Where I could I see it?
6. Does it Travel with items in exabition?
7. I'd pay top Dollar for a Replica! (my huge Map displayed
in our Bedroom faded from exposure to the Window Sun.)

I'm fairly certain one of your questions: [In reply to] Can't Post

4. Who created it?

Daniel Reeve (who also did all of the calligraphy and lettering)

As for where you can buy them, not certain. At one point, there was merchandise like this in the WB shop. Not sure if it's still there. gramma said the licensing that the American Library Association held to do LOTR bookmarks ran out. I'm betting a lot of people licensed to make LOTR merchandise are having their licensing run out.

It looks like WB has one map for $250. (wowsa)

I don't think this is the one you want, though.

Thank you MP [In reply to] Can't Post

The one we had was the First Merchanized Map!
only cost $15 USD...yet over the years it faded.

I WOULD think that Mr. Reeves&Weta could produce
a relief MAP about 4ft.x5ft. in a large Press Run?

I'd love to run my fingers over it...like a Blind Person
reads Braille?

"This map is a direct scan from the original map hand drawn by Daniel Reeve. "

I hope this is it.

I have a promotional version of that map that I had framed... [In reply to] Can't Post

This was a rolled, wall poster give-a-way from MedaPlay (I miss that chain!) that came with my RotK DVD set. It isn't on parchment paper and above the 'Middle-earth' logo it adds the logo for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It is indeed a beautiful thing.

"Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house." - Aragorn

I have that Map... [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm asking about the Actual Movie Prop?
The mountains look reliefed? as the Camera Glides over it.
That version must Be Huge!

I feel that would make a great Addition to a Travelling
Show of Movie Props.

Aside: note 45 years ago... back as a Freshman in College I had a map of ME in my Dormroom...It was similiar to Karen's maps.
Just show you all how OLD..a JRRT geek Bomby has been.

I can't swear, but I think that's CG effects added onto a 2 dimensional map. // [In reply to] Can't Post

Another appearance [In reply to] Can't Post

The map also appears in physical form when Faramir is in the hideout. Actually, I think that was added in the extended addition?
