News story: Hobbit wrap party a hot ticket Can't Post

Invitations for tonight's star-studded, end-of-shoot Hobbit party are such a hot ticket even some Weta crew look likely to miss out.
...One insider said he understood 100 invitations were given out among 250 Weta Workshop crew.
Sir Richard Taylor had asked those who got tickets to take another person from Weta as a guest. However, 50 would still miss out, the insider said.
...The Dominion Post understands Sir Ian McKellen, who reprises his Lord of the Rings role of Gandalf, is still in town. Bernard Hill, who starred as King Theoden in Rings, has been seen in Wellington this week.

Full story here.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Let the speculation begin that Theoden has a cameo [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks like the barrels are in the films are still used to transport wine then.

Thanks for sharing Ataahua - I bet it will be one fantastic party!

That's a bit silly [In reply to] Can't Post

Surely with all the money PJ & Co have there must be space for 50 more?

There are literally thousands of people involved, directly or remotely, [In reply to] Can't Post

with the film. A wrap party is traditionally for people who have worked with each other on a play or film, and not everyone who works for the companies involved with films works on a particular project. There are space, more than money, issues involved. There are thousands of extras throughout the country who won't be at this wrap party, either, it just wouldn't be possible - as much as I wish it were. But some of us extras are organizing a get-together next week for ourselves. It's a celebration with co-workers and friends, whenever and wherever it's held.
Don't worry, Carne, this bunch is as fair as is humanly possible.

Thanks! [In reply to] Can't Post

"A sequel The Hobbit: There and Back Again has been shot around the same time and would be released in December 2014."

Makes it sound as if Film 2 was just an extra addition to the main story ... and filmed during the cast and crew's spare time hehe! Shocked

Two errors in a single quote... [In reply to] Can't Post

First, of course, is the author referring to The Hobbit: There and Back Again as a sequel. But he also got the year of release wrong!

"Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house." - Aragorn
