Gollum... [In reply to] Can't Post

I like how Gollum looks similar to the iconic 'fish' picture... The one which PJ said most closely resembled his vision of Gollum.

a still from motion. [In reply to] Can't Post

Its always hard to judge the appearance of someone in a still. Elrond is looking down and contemplating, probably about to look up and say something. and Gollums eyes are definitely different-larger due to being in the cave no doubt. Im sure everything will look different in motion.

Gollum in motion... [In reply to] Can't Post

I can tell already, Gollum's face is going to move much more realistically in this film. Facial motion-capture has come a long way since LotR, this photo excites me more than the others. Cannot wait!

How exciting! [In reply to] Can't Post

The cover is off, but the rest of the photos are glorious—I'm especially fond of the last photo of Thorin, because that is a Dwarven King.

Gollum's face does seem to be a bit off to me, but I've just rewatched the films and technology does march on; a 2003 Gollum would look odd next to 2012 spiders and the like, even though the concept tempts me…

Nice catch! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's also interesting to compare the two staffs (staves?). I love, love, love the flame-top design of Gandalf's Hobbit staff - a great nod Narya.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

The dwarves' hood colors [In reply to] Can't Post

A few of them seem to have the colors from the book:
Kili - blue
Dori - purple cape and, I assume, hood
Ori - grey
Oin - grey
Gloin - his coat is brown anyway
Balin - dark red coat

6 out of 13? And you're obsessing about this why, Lissuin?!Tongue

Thanks, Magpie. Fun pics.

Does anyone (you) actually read what posters write? [In reply to] Can't Post

Since you responded to me, I will have to reiterate an important part of my post:

Quote
I think they won't be as garish as this photo, however, and I base that primarily on the shot of Bilbo in the spiders' den from the teaser trailer, where the colors seem to all be dark blues and black.

As these EW photos are not actual shots from the film, but behind-the-scenes, I assumed that this was the reason for the colors still being rather garish. The teaser reveals a much muter palette, and from watching the relevant vlog, I am aware that this is largely due to RED Epics eating color.

So please, before you spout off insulting tripe, try actually reading the posts you're responding to.

Actually, yes, I read it.

My reply was a rhetorical question to you about others' posts and not a question at you. I took advantage of your post, being one of the few lacking amnesia, as an open post to all the others suffering from said amnesia. In other words I was spouting insulting tripe to the other posts while pretending to talk to you. I think you misunderstood. Does that make it any better?

I hate all this photoshopped crap! [In reply to] Can't Post

Look at Bilbo on the cover... he looks horribly tanned. And what's with his "Come hither!" look on that cheeky face!? And why is the entire picture elongated!?

I wonder what the deal is with overusing Photoshop. They also went overboard with the Dwarf pics we got last year.

I just wish they'd stick with the natural photographs like they did with LOTR. The overuse of Photoshop is, imo, ridiculous when it's so freaking obvious.

I'm stuck between geeky excitement and cringing Unimpressed
